I just wanted to share with you a few tips about how I make my own facial and body exfoliates~ so easy and saves so much time and $$$ !!!

First of all I don’t know if any of you have watched any of Kandee Johnson’s video’s but I got an awesome idea from her about a facial exfoliate that I use about twice a week! It works wonderfully and I don’t have to buy anything but sugar and lemon juice!

LEMON EXFOLIATE I use this about 2-3 times per week in the shower. All you need is a teaspoon of sugar, lemon juice (fresh or I use the kind you buy in the bottle at the grocery store, make sure it is 100% lemon juice). While in shower or after you remove your makeup, pour about a teaspoon full of sugar into your palm and then add enough lemon juice to wet the sugar. Rub your hands together to distribute evenly, and slowly work the sugar and lemon juice mixture over your face using circular motions. You will begin to feel the sugar get a little sticky, but that is okay! That is the texture you want. I usually do this for about 2 minutes (also including my neck) and then wash off. Your face will feel wonderful, not to mention how good it smells while you are using it. And if you get a little on your lips.. it’s OK.. test it.. tastes like lemonade.

I do not usually put a moisturizer on after this. I wait until the morning and use my normal cleanser and then moisturize. You will get the same results as any facial exfoliate or micro-derm abrasion. It removes all of the yucky stuff.

Lemon juice also fades freckles and age spots by applying lemon juice on the areas before going to bed at night. Over the course of a week or two, it will cleanse the skin and lighten its color. You can also add 1/2 cup of fresh juice to your bath water and soak for 20 minutes for an all over skin treatment. You can also use lemon juice as a toner , just use alone as you would a toner and rub all over your face after removing your makeup! Great for acne or problem skin!

Now…how I make my exfoliate for the body. Oh how I love love love this! All you need is Sugar, Olive Oil, and Lemon Flavoring! 1/2 cup of Olive Oil1 Cup of Sugar 2 teaspoons of lemon flavor (or any flavor at that… pick the one you like best, vanilla is good too)

Mix up in a plastic container with a lid and put it in your shower! After bathing , apply the mixture to your legs , arms, wherever you want or need exfoliation. Awesome for the summer. As you work this onto your skin , keep using circular motions until you do not feel the sugar any longer. After that you should just feel the olive oil on your skin.Rinse and feel how wonderful your skin feels! Follow with your favorite body lotion. I also use this to shave! Double exfoliation! It works so good… you get such a close smooth shave using this. The smell from the lemon flavor is wonderful, and helps to ‘wake up’ the senses in the morning! I usually use this 3-4 times a week, but depending on your skin you may have to adjust the amount of time you use it. I know some who use it every day!

A little goes a long long way. Just wanted to share those tips with you and stay tuned for my post on how I make my own facial loose powder and how what skin care products I use.

I do something similar but use kosher salt. It feels so good afterwards.

I’ve been doing both tricks for a while and it really does work just as good as the store bought stuff but you know what you are putting on your face when you make it at home. I use homemade lemon oil on my face in the mornings and I don’t have nearly as many breaks out as I did using otc stuff.
