On WeUseCoupons, we have excellent forums for DIY Laundry detergent. It’s not to complicated. I saw this picture on Pinterest and thought, I really should try this. This picture was pinned from Being Creative, and is has an excellent recipe for how to do this!! Here are the ingredients you will need:
- one 4 lb 12 oz box Borax (2.15 kg or 76 oz) found in the detergent isle
- one 4 lb box Arm & Hammer Baking Soda (1.81 kg) found in the cooking isle
- one box Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda 55 oz (3 lb 7 oz) found in the detergent isle
- three bars of Fels-naptha soap, found in the detergent isle
- two small containers of oxyclean or store brand oxyclean (try to get about 3.5 lbs total (1.58 kg)) found in the detergent isle.
(this is optional, I added it into mine because I have pretty messy kids and the cleaner the better)

Going to try this however I prefer liquid….
Can this be used for HE washers?
Yes, it can be used in HE washers! I made this and have been using it for about 3 weeks. Works great. I still pretreat stains as I normally would before washing. I’ve also read it works well for people that have sensitive skin and babies. and Jenn there are recipes for the liquid as well. It seemed a little more labor intensive so I went with the powder instead. The “Duggers” have a family web site with the liquid recipe they use or Pinterest has a few to choose from.
Ty for getting back – letting me (&others) know that it works for HE washers.
I’ve been trying to get an invite to Pinterest for about a wk now, if anyone would shoot me an invite that would be so great. Thanks!
liquid versions give you more for way less money.have made mine for 4 years now and spend about $6 ayear. its perfect for my kids that have sensative skin.
