How Many Girl Scout Cookies Did you Buy This Year?

I am scared to admit how many cookies we bought this year! I won’t spend more than $1.00 for a pack of cookies after coupons and sales at the store but Girl Scouts are near and dear to my heart because I was one for years  (obviously this is Kim writing and not Nathan!!).

We usually always donate several boxes to the Troops since that is now an option on the cookie order sheets and did again this year.  However, with Zachary away with the Marines, we also bought him 6 boxes of his own. I can’t really say it was his “own” since he said he did not even make it back to his room before they were half gone with his buddies! I just bought 6 more boxes for him to send this next week for all of them. We bought three boxes for Robert and I to share but I am not sure I even got one of each of those that we bought and they are no where to be found now. I bought one box of shortbread for my Dad because I have bought him those same kind for over 35 years now.

As we come to the end of the Girl Scout Cookie season and have to wait until next year to buy more, how many did you end up with? Any good recipes you use the cookies in? My MeeMaw always made a thin mint pie and I wish I had the recipe! Which are your favorite cookies?

  1. I have bought over 3,000 boxes this cookie season!! Well, I am Leader of a troop, so really it was for the girls orders, haha! Thin Mints freeze very well, even up to a year, but sometimes when they thaw they can be a bit crumbly. The most delicious thing you can do it put a whole sleeve of Thin Mints into a baggie and crush them up. Then add it to the dry portion of any brownie mix. You end up with a whole pan of YUMMY Thin Mint Brownies!!

I resisted this year and only bought 3 boxes!  This is really hard for me to do since I’m a Leader of a troop too and had a stock of 50 boxes in my house at all times.  I made a New Year’s resolution to eat better this year, so I didn’t buy as many this year.

We like to use Thin Mints as mix-ins in ice cream.  My daughter likes to take bites on opposite sides of a Thin Mint and use it like a straw to suck milk through the cookie!  Other than that, Girl Scout cookies don’t last long enough in our house to use them for something else!  LOL.
