Selling your used items on websites like Craigslist and EBAY is an awesome way to get back some of the money you paid for an item. There are two main points that are important when you sell your stuff on the internet. First is the description and second is the photo. When you are describing your item be VERY specific. How big is it? Are there any scratches, tears, dents etc.? Being honest will save alot of grief for you and the buyer. You don’t want to have an item returned because your EBAY description didn’t mention a scratch.
After describing your item, show them the best picture you can! The cleaner it looks, the more money you will get. When you take a photo, using a simple white bed sheet for a background will give the buyer a sense that they are buying something that has been taken care of. No one wants to buy something that looks like you grabbed it out of dumpster. If it does look like it came from a dumpster, they are not going to want to pay very much for it either.
Here is a baby bouncer I want to list on Craigslist. In this picture, it looks as though I keep my baby things in my dirty garage and don’t take care of them. A new mom wants only the cleanest things for her baby! This picture can also be confusing to buyers. They might wonder if that black case, bucket, and crumpled up paper towel are included.
Grab a clean white bed sheet and throw it in the dryer with a wet wash cloth to knock out the wrinkles. (You over achievers can iron out the wrinkles if you prefer ;o) )
After the wrinkles are out, simply hang your sheet up somewhere to create a backdrop. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Notice in this picture I used my same dirty garage and a paint can to hold the sheet up.
Now that your sheet is up, zoom in and take a beautiful photo. Doesn’t this picture look alot nicer then that first picture? It looks like I care about my baby bouncer and that I keep it clean. Remember a cleaner item will rake in more money.
Hope this helps you earn a little more money on Ebay or Craigslist!!
