How to Make Vinegar Smell Better

My son is so picky and refuses to eat fruit.  But he LOVES orange juice so in an attempt to show him orange juice really does come from oranges we squeezed our own fresh orange juice.  Just a warning: It takes A LOT of oranges!  And after all of that work my son responded with “I only like orange juice out of the box.”

So I was left with a sink full of orange peels.  I hate wasting them so I found the perfect solution for them!  Homemade cleaner!  Remember when we had that $1 off vinegar coupon a while ago?  Well I stocked up!  I love cleaning with vinegar – I just hate the smell!  Vinegar cleans SO well and can be used in so many places.  I wash our windows, our counter tops, mirrors, in the bathroom.  Vinegar disinfects and reduces smells, mold and calcium build up.  It’s a super cleaner!  And now it smells wonderful!

First get your jar – I used a Mason jar but you can reuse an old spaghetti jar if you want! Then stuff your peels in.  I’ve also used lemon, lime and grapefruit peels!  Or you can mix them all up!  Any citrus will do!  Then just fill it up with vinegar and close it up.  You need to let it sit for about 2 weeks.  Then strain the liquid and place back into the jar.  In a clean spray bottle, fill it 1/2 with water and 1/2 with your citrus vinegar mix.  Shake well.  And there you go!

Eco-friendly and budget friendly cleaner.  Try it – you will be hooked!  If you’ve tried this with other fruit let me know!!  I’d love to hear your experience!!

Won't it leave a greasy film (on windows, furniture?) since the citrus peels have oil in them?
