Yum Yum for Yum Yum!

May 7th, 2012 · 0 Comments Facebook Twitter Pin It

I LOVE Stir Fry! I love going to the Japanese Steakhouse but that is a rare treat.  To help cut down on cost, we do stir fry at home once a month!

When we find chicken or beef or shrimp  on markdown, we buy it for stir fry! Add in onions, zucchini, fried rice, fried egg and you have yourself a yummy meal- but WAIT!!! One of the reasons why I love the Japanese Steakhouse (besides the fire show and spinning egg that the guy tosses up into his hat) is the YUM YUM sauce- white sauce, shrimp sauce, whatever you want to call it- it is YUMMMMMM YUMMMMMMM and I LOVE it!

What do we do when we make stir fry at home? We make Yum Yum sauce too! Allow 24 hours for the best taste, but I have been known to do it a couple of hours ahead of time.

Mix together:

  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 1/4 cups mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
Cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge! EASY!!!!

Need a Gift for Your Neighbors?

December 23rd, 2011 · 0 Comments Facebook Twitter Pin It

We made this for our neighbors this year. I picked up the plexiglass cutting boards at one of the dollar stores for $2.00. I found a four pack of the spreaders for $2.50. I snagged the Townhouse crackers when they were on sale for BOGO and made the cheeseball from ingredients bought with coupons and sales! We taped the box of crackers on the cutting board, taped the spreader on the cheeseball and tied on a note that said: From our House to your House, we wish you a Merry Christmas! From The Brown Family

Cheeseball recipe:

2 pkgs cream cheese, softened

1 8 oz can of crushed pineapple, drained

1/4 c chopped green pepper

1 Tbsp chopped onions

1 Tbsp seasoned salt

1 c chopped pecans

Mix everything but pecans together and chill. Form into a ball and roll in pecans, then wrap in saran wrap.

  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian spices
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 envelopes Good Seasonings Italian Dressing, prepared (Hidden Valley is fine also)
  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender on high until combined, about 30 seconds.
  2. Pour into small bowl and cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Stir before serving.
  4. Now mix the prepared Good Seasoning Italian Dressing with the Dressing that you have made.  Yes,yes, it makes a ton of dressing.  Put it in the fridge, you’ll drink it later.

Thanks so much to Bare Naked Chef Said So for the excellent FRUGAL idea.  It’s like going out to eat without all the expense!!
