When Aldi & Sav-a-lot first opened up locally I went & found many of their items were out of date or close to it. The Sav-a-Lot meat was bad & every jug of milk was about to expire. I gave them a second try a good while later & same thing!!

We don't eat much canned food, have fibromyalgia & the processing chemicals in the canned food irritate it. Live mear a farmers market & grow our veggies. But may go back for the flour & sugar after reading your posts. So far I've been able to get them below $1 Couponing at Bi-Lo & Walgreens, but willing to see their prices if I need any if these items & don't have coupons for them. Very hard to not coupon though, my binder & Couponizer go everywhere with me!! But will check it out again!

Looking to save for my family!

My only complaint about the produce from Aldi's is that the bananas they have in stock at the store near me are ALWAYS overripe, as in practically going to mush. I shopped there for several months and don't think I once saw a green or even just plain yellow banana there, lol.

No complaints about their other produce, milk or bread (we found bread for $0.25/loaf on unadvertised sale there a few times!).

I just wish I could find more good food deals with coupons like you guys seem to be getting. I pretty much just find 1 decent food deal a week if I'm lucky.

We do most of our shopping at Harris Teeter, but for produce we go to Aldi's. If I want to get an overage, or know a coupon won't double I price match ads at Walmart.

I shop at Aldi for the things I can't get cheaper with a coupon. I also use it as a "base price" for my shopping. If I can get it cheaper at another store with a coupon I will. If I can't, I go to Aldi. I also like their produce, especially in the winter time when the farmers markets have a smaller selection. I got a cantalope for .99 & a 3lb bag of oranges for $1.69 this week! Their ice cream in the big tubs w/ the handle is AWESOME! It's creamy & rich. My kids prefer it over other brands & it's $1 cheaper than the store brand tubs elsewhere. We also buy their frozen apple juice at .89c/can, which my kids like as well. I also buy Aldi butter, shredded cheeses, bread, bagels, frozen flounder & tilapia & frozen sausage links. I shop at Aldi every two weeks & get these basics. Then I supplement around that with items I can get cheap with coupons.

Our Aldi is the opposite, our bananas are green and we have to let them ripen before they are edible usually. We love when buns and bread are a quarter. We stock up and freeze them.

Its crazy how different stores within the same chain vary so widely in quality.

Same here, our bananas are always extremely green too. I have seen overripe produce at Aldi's before, but most of the time it's not a problem. Good place to get cheap produce, but that's about it. There is no way I could do my weekly shopping at Aldi's, they don't have a wide enough selection and I don't think I could get by cheaper there either. I can stock up on several deals each week that are free or under .50 at Publix, and good stuff too, like free boxes of GM cereal and cases of water . Can't do that at Aldi's...

Well, at least my local Aldi's has the bun/bread for a quarter deal on occasion too; we stocked up last time we saw that!

I was the same!! I would ONLY shop at Aldi, but then I learned from our wonderful Giant Pa/Martin's forum leaders that you can get gas for free and just pay for groceries, for the same or cheaper than Aldi!!! I have never had name brand food in my house, until now!!!!!!!

I do love Aldi's because there aren't tons of choices/brands and it's a very easy store to go in and buy what you need quickly.

Have you thanked Jesus or a service member today???
