I use Aldi occcasionally; I'm not loyal to any one store. But a while back I did research of all the grocery stores and the regular prices on popular items to see who really had the best prices in town. Aldi might have come in first place except for the fact that during my several trips to the store, they were out of stock on some of those items. Overall, Woodmans stores won but Aldi was a close second, even with the negative marks for not having everything.

I also post Aldi match-ups on my website every week as well as all the other local stores: Festival Foods, Copps and Piggly Wiggly (Woodmans does not have an ad).

We just got an Aldi here in Wichita Falls. I haven't tried it yet but am curious about it.

What a Deal

Aldi has grapes for $.89/per lb. for red and green seedless grapes. Great deal and you can freeze the grapes like berries for 6 months or more. I use the frozen grapes for drinks and snacks.

The Aldi Foods' ad for 08/17/11 has great deals on produce to PM too.

Enjoy!

I love the seasonal/holiday foods, esp. the imports from Germany & Europe. They have a lot this week: Brats, Sauerkraut, Mustards, Pumpernickel & Rye breads, Museli, cookies and chocolate...to name a few. They are always a hit at a party and most of the time no one knows they came from Aldis. They are just impressed that the item is an import. Their baking items are usually the cheapest in my town. You have to keep track of produce prices, 'cause sometimes it's cheaper elsewhere. PS: My favorite find this week was pretzel dough in a can (think Grands and buttermilk biscuits) that you bake yourself...also an import. My mom loves the gingerbread type cookies at X-Mas.

I LOVE Aldis. I buy the flats of canned veggies, the tuna, the soups, the broths. I buy the scoopable cat litter, bread, milk and butter and so much more for low prices. I love that my store is always stocked and clean and friendly. I buy my Fit & Active cheddar cheese rice cakes there for less then 1.60 for a BIG bag and they have had them for at least the last year. It's like any store, has it's good points, and it's bad ones.
