Default Good & Bad Aldi products

So I normally grocery shop at a couple of different stores to maximize my savings. Tonight I was at pick n save and was irritated how much I spent despite my coupons. The cashier started talking about Aldi. I want to check it out, but want to hear everyone's opinion on good and bad products.

You can start by reading this thread: http://www.weusecoupons.com/upload/a...-products.html lots of reviews there.

I will say that I love baking supplies, dry pasta, greek yogurt, milk, sour cream, cream cheese spread, "little debbie" snacks - they taste better, even, spices, refrigerated big cinnamon roll dough, and produce, garlic bread, brown 'n serve breakfast sausage, hummus, cold salsa, chips, bread, mini bagels.

I dislike: frozen soft pretzels , and a few other things I can't think of right now.

Aldi is awesome for staples that don't go on sale often and don't have coupons. Baking supplies are especially affordable: flour, sugar, oil, spray oil and in the fall: yeast, pumpkin, and refrigerated pie crusts. (Some things are seasonal)

I think you really have to watch the prices, with other store sales and coupons, it is cheaper to shop some where else. I went there a few weeks ago to get fresh veggies and fruits and was really shocked how much the prices have gone up..

I think that's different than the ones that are SuperPretzel knock-offs. Granted, I tried them a few years ago and they've improved the quality of their products since then, but these were yucky.

Yes, you do need to compare prices (true for every store), but Aldi is my needs store. If I need something that isn't on sale I get it there. This is where a price book comes in handy. You want the best prices? Make sure you have a price book with comparisons for every store you shop.

I love Aldi's! My favorite find was a box of 100 chicken nuggets that were on clearance for $3.00! I also love that the breads and rolls are usually around $0.89...the lowest my regular store will ever go is about $1.00, and that is rare. Also, the blueberries and strawberries are about half price of regular grocery stores, which is nice right now because I love to eat berries for breakfast. I have noticed that the items that are probably a better deal with coupons in a regular grocery store are toiletry items, and also ice cream.

We love the salsa and their mayonaise is exactly the same as Helmans.

I go to meijers most of the time and have never been and Aldi person. But I do like to hit my aldis on sat morning. Their produce is really good and better prices than anyone else. My daycare likes their ck nuggets better than anyone else and when you can find them they have the best onion rings. I do think their prices are good and I have done well with all their canned goods. But that being said there are times when the coupons are better and I have noticed lately that their boxes and bags may look cheaper but they have less in them.

They also have the best spiral baked ham at the holidays.

Love love love Aldi!

You have to watch prices on non-essential things for sure. I've found toiletries are frequently higher than elsewhere (but I try to get those for free anyway!) But I have always found milk (almond milk!), eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, etc to always be cheaper unless you have some kinda super-duper coupon. We have very few grocery stores (just Wal-Mart, Schnucks, and Aldi) in our area, and none that double coupons regularly, so that might be part of the difference.

Produce has always been amazing Except for watermelons, which are hit and miss for me anywhere.
