I am sure you are all thinking this girl is crazy, but believe it or not this really works!
One of the many fabulous things about this hobby is it really does not cost a lot to do (unlike husband's woodworking hobby!). You get a bunch of coupons and you stockpile. And then you stockpile some more. And then..you have no place to live because you keep finding things for free everywhere you go! I know you know what I am talking about! Got toothpaste under your bed? Shampoo in your closet? Maxi-pads for your grand children that aren't even born yet? Face it..you have to donate that stuff, give it away or sell it! Well, you can only give so much away before your friends think you have a serious problem. And sure you can donate it the many food banks, but even if you got these items for free, they did cost you - Gas, time, cutting coupons etc.. Why not donate some, give away some and sell some?? Cooler weather is coming - This would be a great time to prepare for next years sale! You would have 8 months or so to accumulate so much stuff you will have no choice! I guarantee once you start doing it, you will be hooked! No here is the best part! Take your earnings from the sale and start paying off those Visa and Master Cards..And OMG how would it feel not to have a car payment? Take it from someone who has got this down to a science! June of 2008, I had $25,000 in loans...After October 2009 I will be at 0!! All because I had garage sales selling my stockpile items. There are many members on this site already doing this, including MrCoupon! Go to the stockpile forum and see all the success stories. Life Takes Visa... I say VISA TAKES LIFE! It doesn't matter if you make $100 or $1000 just do it! |

Great article.I have not had a sale, but over the past yr. our grocery bill has been reduced by 50%, so I would take the remaining 50% and put towards our vehicle payment. We paid the vehicle off in March, 1 yr. early.
So you can get out of debt by couponing that way too ![]() |

Couponing has not gotten me out of debt yet but it has kept our heads above water when my husband and I were both laid off. We were able to pay our bills on time and support 6 kids and actually live while both drawing unemployment. It has also helped us be able to keep our savings in our savings acct. during this time. I will be working up to a stock pile sale by next spring I hope but if I don't have a big enough stockpile for one by then at least I have kept our family of 8 supported and have made it so my oldest daughter doesn't have to work during her first year of college. It is a great thing!

Thanks for the great advice, I myself am stockpiling and I have opened booths in vendors mall type flea markets. I go a couple times a month to stock with new goodies and once a month to pick up a check. It works out great. Plus it is better than any job, because you are your own boss.

YEP! I AM ANOTHER! I paid my car off,..........charge card,.................I am having another stockpile sale this week to pay for a new set of special expensive keys for my paid off car (lost 1 key right after we got it and this has me double triple checking before I shut the door ever), my child needs drivers education........and my doggie needs a big checkup! So, I am utilizing the sales to pay for all these extras. The car payments are now going in the bank to flat out buy a home one day! You can read more on THE PLAN BEGINS by Daytoncouponmom.
Moonflower, you have inspired us! We greatly appreciate your encouragement and gutsy cost cutting adventures! Daytoncouponmom Quote:

To keep from a full all out yard sale. I have been having a "trunk sale" I load my trunk up with stuff to sell and take to work. I have sold all that I have taken and been asked to bring in more. Less time consuming than a full yard sale and more managable.

I have been super stockpiling and reselling for the last few months, and it has saved us! without the stockpile sales, supplementing lost income, we would be sunk by now!
