I have several containers of Moms Best oatmeal that I got for .25 a container at Wal Mart a while back so I think with school starting this is going to be a great way for quick breakfasts! And we all LOVE oatmeal!!

I do something similar, but here's my recipe:

1/3 c oats
1 T flax seed
1 tsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 T dried fruit (cranberries, coconut, apples, bananas, etc.)

My kids EAT THIS UP! This disappears so much faster than any store bought variety, and it's more cost effective too than even the Mom's Best!!

i kind of laugh to find that oats are good for chlorestrol (sp)
and filling.
When i grew up that is what we had for breakfast EVERYMORNING lol
because they were cheap. The big box was about 10cents for the box. lol
we got kind of tired of them everymorning but that was what was put on the table and you ate or went hungry and the school didn't give breakfast back then. On a side note they cooked like our parents did at home beans fried potatoes etc. and there were very few overweight kids. Now that they cook (healthy) more are overweight or obese than everbefore. Something wrong with this picture.
just my opinion.

I know when I was growing up, we stayed outside and played all day. We skated, ran, rode bicycles, played baseball and basketball, chased each other and played all kinds of out door games. We also had real physical activity in PE in school. We had exercises before we started doing PE activities.
We drank a lot of water instead of soda. There was always a container of cold water in the fridge.
When we had to come inside it was *OH mom*. Now if you tell a child to go outside and play, you get the same response.
I think the level of exercise/non-exercise has something to do with childhood obesity.

Great idea, thank you
