I am with moonflower. If you are going to click the link and learn, do it responsibily. There are a lot of people who use this information to STEAL groceries and other items. When used improperly everyone suffers, as prices will go up, and the coupon prices will go down

This is a very hard topic to discuss!!! I'm not sure how to go about it. If we educate people on what the numbers mean, then we are opening the door to potential fraud. If we say nothing, then people wonder about the numbers.
This link could be used to create fraudulent coupons. I hope it isn't. Many many people wonder what those numbers mean, and this company not only creates those barcodes, they explain to us what they mean. They actually have a new barcode that fights fraud even better. This link is only here to explain what the numbers mean. Please do not use this information inappropriately. Last edited by MrCoupon; 02-12-2009 at 05:39 PM. |

Maybe i am lost and maybe i am so new to this- i don't understand when you say :fraud: either a coupon will or won't scan for a certain item, right? If you don't want to answer me on this that is fine, as to not tip off people that already know how to do this.. but i guess people think of everything how to get around something! and if it doesn't ring up- typically a cashier will not take it anyway!- PM if you want to, i will not be offended..just stupid i guess???

well when we are talking about fraud in this case i think about printables. People can make some really authentic looking printables, many people receive emails full of fraudulent coupons. This information theoretically could be used to create them. It's a terrible thing, and really hurts us all.
The reason I put up the link, is because i've gotten some questions about them. |

Here is a prime example
You have a coupon for $1/1 12 pk of soda OR 2 Liters. The coupon is coded as a 76 which in the barcode would mean $1/1 soda. So someone could fraudlently use the coupon on 1 2 liter of soda and the coupon will scan, but you are not following the rules of the coupon. That is all I am going to say on the topic. Moonflower |
