Default My Christmas gift

I just wanted to share with some fellow crafters! It's an 1888 Singer treadle sewing machine. It's mechanically sound and just needs to be cleaned and have the belt repaired and it'll be functional. I've been wanting a treadle for a little while now and I'm so glad I was able to get one. Does anyone else own a treadle? Do you use it for sewing?

Congrats, what a wonderful gift. I been looking and haven't found what I wanted yet, but I do plan on using it for my quilting. Do you quilt or sew clothes?

Thank you! I'm not a quilter but am interested in it. I like to sew clothes, baby blankets and little toys/games and accessories. I wish you luck in finding what you're looking for!

I have a treadle sewing machine. Bought it from my dad for $75. I guess I'll try to find someone to service it this year and maybe get it working.

You all may get a kick out of this. These are from the treadle machine in my house. Even have the accessories ! Oh and yes it is operational.

That is so neat! Thanks for sharing! I was kind of excited to find some old 15 cent wooden spools of thread and 19 cent twill tape in one of the drawers. In another there were extra needles, bobbins and a couple different feet all packed inside a paper Hudson's bag, lol.

Is the one in your house a machine that's been passed down in the family?

Was my grandmothers, then in my fathers house, now it has come to mine. It is a cherished possession. The only thing "wrong" with it is that it is missing the original felt from the top and a few scratches but it is a gorgeous piece.
