Hi,
![]() I've been teaching myself to crochet. I've made a potholder that was crooked, and a washcloth that is..well, let's just say it's not pretty, but it washes well. ![]() I think I've finally started to get the hang of it. I'm making a scarf now. I'm about half finished with it, and I have to say it looks like a scarf. All the lines are even and straight. I'm really hopeful I'll be able to give it as a Christmas gift. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so we'll just have to see how the final product turns out.Anyway, I learned from watching videos on YouTube, and I got a little book with pictures from Walmart. Do any of you crochet? If so, what have you made? or What are you making? I'd love to hear about it. ![]() I love the idea of taking yarn and turning it into something warm and comforting. ![]() WUC Moderator & Exchange Coordinator Holiday & Special Day Forum Leader ![]() Kindness Does Matter Do for other's as you would have them do for you. I use to watch my grandmother crochet when i was younger..I always thought it was neat what she could make..and asked if she could show me how..she tried and i tried but just didn't get it..I think I was too young to understand what she was trying to show me..
..but about 6 yrs ago i wanted to learn again..well with her eyesight and tremors she doesn't crochet much anymore so i got a few books and taught myself..I have made several baby afgans(I know its not spelled write.. ) and gave them as gifts..I just love to crochet baby blankets or couch throws..Since i took up couponing i haven't done much crocheting..it would take a bit to get back into it..like starting from scratch again..but it can be so rewarding..after spending so much time on the blankets then seeing the finished project..and the smiles on the faces of the moms that get them..I have only kept 1 baby afgan i made and it was the very first one i crochet..I thought about making them and selling them but I done some research on ebay and such..they don't sell for much..and by the time you purchase the yarn and the time you have spent it just wouldn't be that profitable..not like couponing is.. .. |

I'd really love to make each of my children a afghan. You know, something special from mom.
Thanks for posting mommyof1. If you ever get interested again, you might think about auctioning something here. Or creating your own little etsy shop. Crocheted/Knitted dishclothes seem to be popular right now. ![]() WUC Moderator & Exchange Coordinator Holiday & Special Day Forum Leader ![]() Kindness Does Matter Do for other's as you would have them do for you. I learned to crochet a long time ago and still enjoy doing it. I made my first afghan when I was in 2nd grade . . . my mom was in the hospital and it was boring in there with her.
I'm not much for big projects anymore. I enjoy a quick baby blanket or a set of potholders. . . something I can whip out in a night or two.I love to see pics of your scarf! |

My mom is an excellent crocheter. She taught me some of the basics a long time ago, but I've forgotten. I don't think I have the patience to do something like that. I would love to though.
Good luck with your scarf! Show us some pics when you are done ![]() |

I've crocheted since I was a child. My older sister learned how in Home Ec class and I learned/taught myself from watching her. Over the years I've made potholders, afgans, baby blankets, baby booties, sweaters, a scarf & boggin, and doilies & table runners. I'm currently making an afgan for my child and just taught him the chain stitch & we are working on the single stitch.

I crochet. I've started baby afghans that I haven't finished.
I taught oldest dd how to and she finished them and then proceeded to make baby doll size afghans for her little sisters as birthday gifts and even made them headbands and a matching one for their life size baby dolls. I will teach the two youngest dd's too when they start showing an interest in learning the craft. I can knit, but not crochet, but I want to learn as you use a lot of it in knitting
