Went to CVS to use up a couple ECB's that were gonna expire and I did not NEED ANYTHINGGGGGG. So I got the little digital bank for my 8 year old, figured he would love it. Price 9.99 had a 6.00 ECB and a 3.00 ECB. He rang it up, took my card, took 1 ECB and then told me I had to buy something else because "you have to have to purchase more than 1 item because you have 2 ECB's you need 2 items." I was thinking to myself what huh is he an idiot, but he was the manager so whatever, grabbed a pack of gum for my hubby and paid the $2.?? and left. He had started to say yes see down.... then I paid. He was pointing at the bottom of the ECB.
I go home and read it and it says nothing about 1 item per ecb. What the heck is he trying to pull? Do I need to avoid his store and use the other 2 in town only now?? What do you all think?? Thanks |

I personally have never had that happen at CVS... one of the reasons I prefer them over Walgreens.. I have always been able to use as many extra bucks as I had and didn't need matching numbers of coupons and items..
)and Clint(12) and teacher to a whole classroom full!!

Here is an exerpt from an email I received from CVS corporate regarding their coupon redemption policy:
Our registers are set to allow 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon per item. CVS Extra Buck coupons are earned when you make a qualifying purchase. These print out instantly at the register upon reaching the threshold for the offer. Free coupons or "offers at the register" are unearned and issued to you as a valued member of the CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare program. These coupons take the form of "open ended" coupons such as $3 off $15 or a certain dollar amount off a specific item. In any given transaction our registers will allow only one "open ended" coupon per transaction and more than one Extra Buck coupon provided the purchase threshold has been met for each offer amount on a per-transaction basis. According to this, the manager was wrong. It clearly states you can use more than one Extra Buck coupon as long as your purchase amount is at least equal to the amount of the EB. |

The manager was 100% wrong. You might want to call corporate on monday to let them know that he is misinformed on how to use ECBs. Or stop in the store and ask for the number of the district manager, by company policy they have to give you the number to contact the district manager. If this manager is doing this to you he is doing it to other customers. some who might not have online resources to learn it is WRONG.
I am sorry you had this happen. how rude of him. also, tissue packs are a lot cheaper than gum! LOL I use them to eat up a few cents here and there sometimes. so i usually suggest those as fillers instead of gum |

you can get your purchase and have it be less than the ECB amount you are using. ECBs state UP TO $$$$ on them. meaning you dont have to use the FULL amount. you can be a few pennies short . but you do NOT need to get the purchase amount of the ECBs you are using or higher. ECBs are not open ended coupons. FYI. ECBS state they are good UP TO a certain amount. meaning you can fall short of the full value of the ECB if you wish. LOL actually hubby eating this gum like it is going out of style so that is no big deal there. The district MGR is in the CVS that is closest to my house anyway. Might have to stop in there and casually mention this to her. I think he was actually trying to upsell the gummies. The first thing he asked me was when I walked up to the register was "Do you like gummies" then he moved on to well you need 2 etc.....
Next customer walked up and he said the same to her. arggggggggggg |

there are times being a few pennies short of a full ECB IS going to cost me less OOP than making sure i GET the full ECB. I dont know your shopping techniques. but that is how mine works. we all do this a touch different. |

i had the same problem at cvs once. i was buying irish spring body wash and i used a mf coupon, then i had two ecb for like .99 cents each and the cashier tried and the register would not take all 3 of them.
