So with so many coupons and different ways to use them, how do you keep from being confused? By reading this of course!! The next few paragraphs will discuss all the different coupons available for use at CVS and the ways they can or cannot be combined! Manufacturer Coupons: ~Cvs will accept any manufacturer coupon within it's expiration date, for the product specified and within their set quantity. Confusing right? Basically that means, so long as your coupon is not expired, CVS will take it. It also has to be used on the item indicated on the coupon. Example: If it says on XYZ Shampoo in the writing(not the picture!), then you couldn't use it on XYZ Conditioner. Sometimes CVS has set limits on the amount of an item you can purchase, and you could only buy that many items, therefore you can only use that many coupons. More often than not you can do multiples transactions and buy more items with more coupons by doing so. Some CVS's do accept expired coupons, we suggest asking your store manager what their policies are on expired manufacturer, CVS, and ECB coupons are. Other Helpful Hints for Manufacturer Coupons: ~Manufacturer coupons with a store logo that are true manufacturer coupons(which start with a 9 or 5 and do not have the wording "Use ONLY AT or Redeem ONLY AT *insert store name here**), are also accepted by CVS. These coupons will have a valid redemption address on them like any other coupon, which may help you show your store that your coupon is valid for use there. ~Catalina Coupons(that print from the machine near the register in certain stores like your local grocery store) are not acceptable at CVS. They are considered competitor coupons intended for use only at those stores and not accepted at CVS. This is YMMV, like most things, but most stores will turn you down flat with them. ~Blinkies(from the smartsource black blinking boxes) coupons are normal manufacturer coupons, no matter where you got them from and will be accepted at all CVS stores. ~Overage: CVS does NOT give overage from manufacturer coupons. All coupons valued at more than the CVS retail price of the item will be adjusted to meet the selling price. ~CVS will accept one manufacturers coupon and one CVS Store coupon per item. This basically means if you have a 0.50/1 Manufacturer Coupon for XYZ Shampoo and a 1.00/1 XYZ Shampoo CVS Store Coupon, you could use them together. ~CVS will accept a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. Should you ever run into trouble with this, you should call corporate from the store and they can straighten it out with your cashier. This means that you WILL receive both items for free, one item the store sale pays for, the other item the coupon pays for. In the case of a BOGO 50% off sale it works this way: You have 2 X/1 coupons OR 1 X/2 coupon-you are able to use either or with no problem. The coupons will take the full amount off either way unless it exceeds the total amount due of both items. Examples: Toothpaste is BOGO 50% @ 2.00(regular full price) The first is 2.00 The second is 1.00 Using 0.50/1 qs as an example: You'd get both toothpastes and the total would be 3.00 You'd give both coupons(2 0.50/1 qs) and the total would be 2.00 for both. Internet Printable Coupons: All CVS stores accept Internet Printable(IPs) coupons. However they retain the right to refuse any coupon printed from the internet that will not scan, is on their fraud list, or seems suspect. To help maintain a good relationship with your CVS, you can always point out that each IP has a specific PIN number in the upper right corner and a valid redemption address as well. CVS X/XX Coupons: ~CVS will accept one CVS Store Coupon, one manufacturer coupon per item and still accepts a X/XX(or amount off your total purchase) coupon in one transaction. You can also use more than one X/XX(or amount off your total purchase) coupon in each transaction provided that you spend enough to equal to the bottom amount of BOTH X/XX coupons after sales prices have been applied(your coupons do NOT count against that total). Example: you have a $3/$15 and a $4/$20, you would have to spend $35 dollars to use both, which is a pre-coupon but POST sales price total. All sales prices count towards your final total to use these. It also doesn't matter if you give these first or last, the computer will STILL read these as you having the amount, because they are PRE-coupon! Also, any email coupons you receive are a one time use only coupon unless it states otherwise on the coupon. All coupons are attached to your Extracare Card and intended for use by you, please don't share! ~CVS allows the combination of specific X/XX(or amount off your purchase) coupon with a regular X/XX as well. Example: You receive a $3/$10 Cosmetics coupon on the bottom of your receipt and have a $4/$20 to use as well. You'd be required to spend a total of $30, but $10 of that post-sales price amount would have to be cosmetics to use them both. Reinventing Beauty Coupons(also referred to as RIB): These coupons come from a magazine called Reinventing Beauty which is published every three months just for CVS stores. There is a pull-out insert in each magazine that contains both high value manufacturer coupons and high valye CVS store coupons. To find these check your CVS's makeup/beauty section or ask a cashier where they're located. Their cost is 0.99 per issue. Can I use coupons on clearance items? Yes you can use coupons on clearance. Some stores mark through the barcode so they need to enter in the amount of the coupon. If you ever have trouble with a store telling you can't, please speak to the manager first and if you don't get any help there, then contact customer service and they will speak with the store to let them know they are required to accept them. **Note: This is increasingly becoming a problem at our CVS stores, it may not be long before we see a change in policy and are no longer able to do this, of course you guys will be the first to know!!** **Important to Remember!!!**: ALL CVS STORE COUPONS HAVE A BARCODE THAT STARTS WITH A 4, IF IT DOESN'T, IT'S NOT A CVS STORE COUPON. These coupons, like stated above, can be combined(one manufacturer and one CVS per item) to achieve even greater savings! The Red Box Scanner Coupons: All coupons coming from this machine are CVS Store coupons and can be combined as stated above. Remember to scan your card until the screen displays "No More Coupons Available" and to keep these handy even if you don't intend to use them that day. The expiration on the red scanner coupons is usually about two weeks and they often come in handy to help make another deal better within that time. All coupons from the Red Box Scanner are tied to your card and should only be used with your card. You should also not try to use another's coupons, because they are tied to that person's cards. CVS Internet Coupons: Occasionally CVS will release a general use coupon online, but we see them less and less as of late. The reason for this being the abuse CVS Corporate was seeing with people sharing the online coupons sent to specific individuals. WUC and the leaders in this forum in particular will NOT tolerate sharing of these on the CVS forum board or posting of trips where these internet coupons are being abused. Our site owner has said this: "Yesterday we received an email from CVS corporate asking us to please prohibit WUC from posting CVS coupons links etc. Because of that request, WUC has put an end to the sharing of CVS coupons through posting them in threads, sending them via private messaging and/or email. Effective immediately, all threads that post a link to a CVS coupon or offer to share a coupon via a private message or email will be removed for your protection as well as WUC. I’m posting the email for all to see below, and the new rules for CVS forum area. The new rules are as follows: - Please do not offer to share or solicit any online CVS coupons. This includes but isn’t limited to emailed coupons, and pdf coupons. - Please do not post links to any online CVS coupon unless approved by an FL or Mod. - Please do not post a link to newspaper pdf’s unless approved by an FL or Mod. - Please do not discussing using expired coupons, unless you have cleared your transaction with your manager. If any of the above are discussed moderators will edit the posts. The user will receive a warning. Please understand we are trying to protect you as well as the site. We may have to add to this list as the legal department at CVS clarifies their position. Thanks for understanding. The WeUseCoupons Team UPDATE: If you have an online CVS coupon, please submit it to the CVS Forum Leader, OR moderator. We will beginning approving valid CVS online coupons. CVS may at times ask us to remove them, and will comply with all requests made from CVS . Thanks for understanding!!" Thank you all for standing behind us on this! We don't see this issues here often at all, but I'm sure you can all understand why this is still included in our coupon information!" And finally ALL printed CVS coupons, from the scanner to the register and internet coupons that come to specifically you that are attached to YOUR card are intended only to be used with THAT card and for/by just you. Also, there is NO printable coupon policy nor an email contact option for CVS corporate for CVS available to the general public, these rules are learn as we go and also obtained by many many calls with customer service in the past. Thank you. I learned a lot from reading all the subforums. I just recently realized that there is a CVS store in the town I go to church. I can stop by after Bible Study on Thursday. Before this, it was to far and I never thought about it.

I am going to start shopping at CVS tomorrow and I'm looking for an answer to this question...
Say I want to buy Mouthwash for 2.99 - get $2 ecb, limit two. Do I have to do two separate transactions or can I get 2, and have $4 ecb print? found the answer on the second page of another post. Thanks for the info, so glad to not have to do 7 transactions Last edited by josyjozy; 07-23-2011 at 07:01 PM.. |
