I would let either the manager know and if you get nowhere, then a call to Corporate so they can see perhaps some employees need an attitude adjustment or a new career.

My one store is great. She tells me the penny items if it's happened that day and she hadn't pulled it. Another store gives me no issues about penny items either, but hates coupons to be used on clearance. Go figure. I'm working on getting a copy of the SOP which should smooth my way in future transactions at unfamiliar stores. The manager at my main store is in my breastfeeding support group, so we are friendly.

Oh I told the Corp lady lol She said she would be informing the DM about it. The store lady (after apologizing) said she had been there for 10+years...I have only shopped at this store twice(both times mainly for penny items) and the first time was smooth sailing. The cashier was really friendly and told me she was going to grab some for herself before she told the manager. I'm guessing this is why I hace noticed though that even different shifts vary on their so called 'ability to sell' the penny items.

Yes, went to a store I had been to about two months ago. Found a cart load of items. The cashier was no way so I called corp. The person on phone was like you call in about this problem a lot. Then asked had I been to this store before. I told her 2 months ago, so she call the store and told them to sell. The cashier was calling all the managers she could get ahold of saying if she got fired she was "gonna be trippin", I heard this phrase about 15 times. I stood calm and collected. She started the trans got half way thru and store manager called to tell her to bag everything else up put my name on it and they would talk to DM and for me to come back the next day. Well I go back, mainly so they don't think they ran me off. And was told... They are to sell me the rest of the items, but I can NEVER purchase penny items again. I said I would take that up with corp. later. I was planning on doing a 5 off of 30 till I was informed one like coupon per person/purchase. Because they are intended for customers to try something then come back and pay full price. I am waiting to call corp in the morning. Such BS. I was livid on the inside, but I kept a cool and calm exterior. They were not gonna see me sweat or freak out on them. I just got my stuff and went to the next DG. As I live in a suburb of Dallas, Tx. I have 10 -15 stores that I go to routinely. This store will not get me down!

I only penny hunt the good ones. Pillow Pals, organizers, good toys, pajamas, etc. I did get a bunch of the DG pocket bibs.... It's not worth it to me for most of the Amazing Value stuff.

If you get your hands on the SOP manual, could you please scan the page for us? I've had so many issues with stores in my area, that I've made a point to not shop at DG. I'd love to get penny deals again, but I hate being on the phone for almost an hour every time I go into the store.

Wow, while I was sleepin last night missed out on some interesting stories. Catching up now though. So sorry to hear that some our WUCkies receive some not so great customer service (finger waggin and calling ahead to other stores to "warn" them is not exactly preofessional IMO, but that is just mine as well). I am however so glad to hear that our WUCkies are handling this with grace and dignity and using their resources appropriately. GO WUCkies

Wow. Faulty logic abound. If they wanted the person to try it once and come back to pay full price DG wouldn't offer a full purchase coupon or promo every week. Plus, there's a $5/$30 text, app, IP, and CRT. All different coupons. FAIL on their part. Sounds like they were making it up. The problem is that they didn't do their job by pulling the penny items and got caught. They shouldn't be taking it out on you. Let us know how it goes.

Here's the thing - the poor communication between corp, the RM, DM, and SM makes the SM to make up reasons as to why they can't sell items to you. Yes, they can get in trouble for selling a lot of penny items, but that's not on the customer - that's on them for not pulling the merchandise. Part of the problem is that DG has a skeleton crew (part of the reason they're targeted for robberies) and they move stuff around all of the time. For the employees to get EVERYTHING done may take a miracle and good employees are harder to find than the miracle.

For everyone reading the thread and not directed at the poster I quoted:
I would never call corp on the stores I frequently shop if they refused me a penny item(s). I like to keep a good rapport because I see them once a week. But, that's my choice. I would caution anyone penny hunting to keep your rapport with your favorite store in mind before you call corp about penny items. Before you call, ask yourself if it's worth damaging your reputation with your store for the items they're refusing. Just food for thought.
