What are some of the ways you keep your family night not only fun but frugal too?

We choose to have a family night on Friday.


We have supper that is a family choice (could be hm pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, burgers, etc.) and then we may play games or watch a movie on the laptop with popcorn (free after coupons).


We have sometimes swapped the night for a day. We may opt to trade it for a Saturday outing to the park, picnic, etc.

Sometimes we do campfires out back. We roast hotdogs and marshmallows. We talk, tell jokes, and just hangout with each other.

Sometimes we make homemade pizza and watch movies.

Other times we go to the drive-in for a movie. During the week it's $5 for the carload, and it's a double feature (1st run movies). During the weekend they charge $10 for the carload. We take our own food and drinks.

During the summer we load up a picnic and head to the lake. It's $3 for a carload to be in the picnic/park/beach area. We love doing that. We spend most of the day there.

Sometimes we load up the boys big wheels and go to the walking park. They love that...oodles of sidewalk to peddle to their hearts content, and we take a picnic...or even just a little snack. Dd walks with us and tells us all the teen stuff.
