My weekly email ad sometimes has prices different from the actual store I shop in. I was in FL last week and as luck would have it, Greg Finchum, VP of FL was there. I pulled him aside and explained that the email I received Tuesday night had pork loins for $1.59# and the paper ad and actual product was priced $1.79#. He was confused about it as well and had his "head of digital" stuff contact me. We talked for a few minutes and he promised to have someone in his office contact me to figure it out.

That guy told me that my FL card was linked to a different pricing zone and he would have it cleared in a few weeks. First of all, my card had my local store set as my location, so I'm not sure if he was making it up or not. Second, we have moved a great deal, but I don't know if that's it or not. Third, I have no idea why it would take so long.

That being said, it only happened once a month, if that. I got last nights' email and it has Chuck roast for $2.99, but my store ad says $3.49. I like the $2.99 better, so yay for those of you who got that price. What's funny is that it's usually just the meat on the front page that is the issue.

I'm wondering how many other people have the same issue and don't realize it and go and shop and pay the higher price. Fwiw, I have not noticed ANY prices being lower in my store and higher in the ad.

Has anyone else noticed this?

YES! And Food lion will tell you that what you said is not available in your area. Prices are lower here in my smaller city than 30 minutes down the road in a much larger city. I had expected prices to be lower in a more populated area due to competition. They are at Lowes home improvement but not Food lion.

Well, the three items I remember are chuck roasts, pork loins and sirloin tip roast - those are available at any store I've ever been too. I think the guy, who reports to the head of digital whatever for FL made it up as he went along when he said that FL had my card linked to a different zone than where I had lived for the last year and a half. He said they were going away from that, but he can't fix it for 3 - 4 weeks.

The head of digital is supposed to be sending me his contact info in case it doesn't get fixed, so I'll definitely keep an eye on it. I mean, they want us to use the site - the VP was acting like the site was the end all be all, but if it's incorrect, what good is it? Or, if I have to go to the store to verify, what good is it for me?

Like you, I would expect competition to drive prices too. We have HT, Lowes Foods, AND Publix in my town of 30K, not to mention Aldi's, SuperTarget and SuperWM, but each of my online prices is higher than the email. I can't imagine a town with more competition, so that must not matter.
