Question about DND Coupons?
I didn't pay much mind to it earlier in the week when I visited Giant Eagle. One of my coupons didn't double so the girl double checked it for me and it stated DND (but started with a 5). I didn't think much about it and let it go.
Well, today I did a big shop with DH to stock up on some canned goods. I had a few IP coupons (Progresso broth, Old El Paso) and they didn't double. I guess since they state DND on them I can't be too upset about it but I am wondering what has changed? Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my store? Is there a way that it can be determined within the barcode to not double? They've always doubled, Kroger too, so I am wondering if I need to change my strategy now. Ugh. Interesting. I don't shop Giant Eagle, but my experience has always been that if it starts with a 5 it will double if scanned. If it starts with a 9, it will not.

That's what I thought too!
All of my coupons that stated DND didn't and the others went through just fine. Now I am super curious. One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

I thought the same way as you ladies do. I don't shop giant eagle much, but sometimes my cashier will see the DND and manually prevent it from doubling when it was a 5, otherwise it doubled fine and they didn't care.

DND5 - will double
DND7 - will double DND9 - will not double Anytime a coupon starts with a 5 or 7 the computer will automatically double it. Sometimes if the cashiers see that the coupon says DND they will manually enter it a certain way to prevent it from doubling. I don't have a GE so I can't be totally positive but it's happened to me before at a different store.

this could be a new thing at giant eagle! lord i hope not. anytime i have a DND that starts with a 5 they always double unless you have a cashier that hits a button that wont double it. and that could honestly be what the problem was. there is one store near me that is VERY strict about the no doubles on DND.
either today or tomarrow im going to use my old el paso coupons. we'll see if they double. so i will get back to you as soon as i can. GIANT EAGLE FORUM LEADER Misty i believe in santa and all the elves

Yup, they started with a 5 and the cashier just scanned them manually--no button hitting prior to the swipe. I am so hoping it doesn't mean something is "up" cause I would really hate that! All the Q's were from coupons.com that didn't double
