Help I need a litte advice, please!

Okay so to make this somewhat short I need some advice, I have 5 giants in my local area, however I only frequent 2. I have been pre-ordering for a long time, while the one store has a kiosk set up to handle the special ordering the other I usually go to customer service and order from there. I had ordered 190 pack of tuna last week for this week, it came in I picked it up as I always do when they call to say its in! Well, I went in yesterday to put my order in for 80 bags of the mac n cheese and 20 shake n bakes. I see the same lady as always said okay should have it by monday. Well about an hour later I had to go back in because I forgot to get my fruit tray for my daughter's sleep over. The girl at customer service saw me and waved me over. I have known her for a long time and she is the best front end manager ever! Anyhow, she precides to say has Gary called you? I say no why? She said because after you picked up the tuna the the other day he didn't like the fact that we let you buy so many, plus the order you just put in I am not sure he is going to actually order? I say well he didn't call me, and isn't that the purpose of me ordering so I don't clear the shelves? Mind you this is the store that has been ordering for me for almost 2 years without issues. So I am a little PO at this point, because A I didn't do anything wrong, B if you have decided you aren't going to put my order in then you have a responsbility to call me as a paying customer to let me know this so I can order from my other store. She then went onto say he is mad because you have so many gas points, and he thinks you are intentionally frauding Giant. This really offended me, now I am not mad at this employee I am angry with the manager. I have literally spent over 1200 dollars in the past 2 weeks alone and I have kept all my receipts. I don't know what to do, and advice? TIA

Thats a tough one. I would maybe call and speak with him directly just to make sure he understands why you order items, and to make sure he put your order in. If for whatever reason he states he will no longer allow you to order I would then give a call to corporate and discuss their policy for ordering and get an ok on it from someone higher up. It could just be a misunderstanding, these things happen. I would try to smooth it out with him first but if that doesn't work the higher powers need to be addressed. Good luck with everything

Okay so I called him just now, he stated he has the right to limited the quantities as stated in the sales flyer! He said when they have things on sale they are losing money and it isn't right for me to be able to buy bulk on an item on sale! I am so confused I explained as best as I could but he wouldn't even hear it! So I am at a lose for words! I have been shopping at this particular store for 7 years and have never had to call corporate with a bad report but I feel in this case I must do so.

Yeah, I had a manager scold me for wanting to use a $5 off $50 order coupon once telling me that I am causing Giant to lose money on the deal, when I was using maufacturer's coupons along with that one. If I were in your position, I think I'd let what the guy said not change my mood, but instead I'd just not pre-order from that particular store. If it happened to me, I might do something different, but we only have ONE store here. Actually, I don't pre-order to begin with. Most of what I do goes "under the radar" of management in my Giant.

The main reason we want to avoid having what others do change our moods for the worse is that when we become passionately involved in anything- we get more of it. If that passion is spent on what you want less of, it's self-defeating because we are powerfully inviting more of the thing we don't like into our lives. What we think about, we bring about- and words of negation- like I "DON'T" want to be treated like this don't have any power to go against what is passionately being thought of- which was "treated like this".

VA Cavelady will be along with some excellent advice on how to build relationships with Giant people out of love and respect for the hard work they do- and I by no means- can do that better than her! They don't stick those little red hearts next to the FL usernames for nothin!

I have had the same issue. My manager won't order any gas deal related items for me. Same line "We have the right to limit quantity". I have explained to him that the only reason he knows that I buy so much of sale items is because I stand in the middle of the store in bright pink and say "HELLO EVERYONE I AM A COUPONER AND I BUY A LOT OF SALE ITEMS". And that there are many others who do the same thing I do, but they sneak in and out. I explained that my goal for ordering is to not clear his shelves and he won't budge. I know I irk him though because every time I am in there I smile big and wave like I am seeing an old friend. I know he thinks I am a nut job, which makes me giggle inside. I have no advice for you. I am sorry.

I am sorry that it didn't go well. I don't buy the whole "we are losing money" bit some stores pitch to couponers. They get reimbursed for the coupons and when an item is on sale they still make money. These items as in any retail store are marked up a great percentage. When a retailer puts something on sale they are still making money, they put items on sale to draw the consumer to their store and the consumer in return thinks they are saving money by shopping there. Its a shame that a call to corporate is the next step but maybe it will shed some light on exactly what the corporate policy is. If in fact that manager doesn't have a right to restrict quantity then he will be educated on the process and hopefully you will not have any more issues. If in fact he does have a right to do so you may have to change your shopping strategy.

I do agree that VA Cavelady will be able to offer up some sound advice as well, she is a pro at Giant/Martins and always has helpful advice for all of us.

Our giant won't let us raincheck anymore. So needless to say its a very hostile environment at ours since everyone fights for everything. Then someone on Facebook in the town is teaching others how to clear the shelves, having many followers learning under them. It's so rewarding coming from a pastor eating nothing but PB&J with two adults and four kids, now we can eat like we are kings and queens. Just the hassle sometimes we get from Giant, makes me wonder if it's sometimes worth my stress! But I keep dealing with it cause gotta get that deal lol

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I talk to my store Mgrs all the time and they do have the right to limit quantity. I can tell you alot of stories that have been shared with me by store Mgrs about why they limit. Not that it will ease your frustration, but they seem to go from hot to cold when their "buttons" get pushed (not by you) but by something or someone else.

As an example, I had a store Mgr tell me about a Restaurant Owner coming in & buying Hams that were on a great promo a yr or so ago and then running Ham Specials at his restaurant. The store Mgr was pressured to tell him no he could not have anymore because the guy wanted to buy everything they were going to be getting and the Mgr knew that regular (non-business) customers would be upset if they could not buy at least one ham.

The Mgrs do not think like we do, and they are not trained to think what on earth would someone want with Large quantities of something. They see the average consumer picking up a few of something (even when it's on sale) and coming back next and buying the same thing for a higher price. Lets face it that is how most consumers do it. WE Cpners are really the ones that are Different (in a good way).

I can tell you that they do not get reimbursed for the Dbled cpn $$ amounts. So when we go in and run multiple transactions, so that we can get the extra $$ from the dbld cpn - again we are taking extra money away. As a matter of fact I just ran into a Corp Mgr this past week at my Martin's and we talked about this very thing.

I would suggest a couple of things:
1) If he was really "hot" it was probably not you that set him off - it was probably something/someone else. I would bet that had just been called or someone had been in and tried to get a HUGH quantity of something. So his radar is set on HIGH Alert.
2) If you can place a smaller order with him and maybe an order in another store would be good, at least for now, so that you can not further "push" with him, until he has a chance to calm down. Give it a cpl of weeks and then try to talk with him.
3) If after the cool down period he is still saying no special orders then I would call corporate. If you do it now it will only add fuel to his fire, when he gets the call from Corp saying they just had a call.

I know it's frustrating and that you have had a good relationship with the store and a long standing one. I'm not saying what he is doing is right (at all) I'm just saying for the moment can you work around it ?

I have been working on building even more of a relationship with my Store Mgrs and I plan on trying to explore this issue with one of them further once I catch one of them in the next day or so.

They are faced with people telling them crazy things all the time and people coming in to buy items at rock bottom prices to resell etc. I even had a Mgr tell me that a man came in last yr and wanted over 200 of the Breakstone items that were in the Hershey park deal - and that the man said he palnned on throwing the product away.

I'm also thinking that if the Mgr is aware that you have a high total of gas points on your card - that might be irritating him - can you decrease it and pump some so the points total goes down.

I try to do this and again stay under the radar screen. When I start to get $9 off per gallon on my card - it's time to pump. There is WAY to much Chatter that happens in the store, among the cashiers etc when they see you will that many points. Again, it really should not be anyones business but people like to talk.

Sorry I know, I'm trying to collect my thoughts and give people insight and I keep thinking of more stuff.

The other factor that I hear all the time is "what on earth do people do with this much stuff ?" I hear it from cashiers, front end people, mgrs etc. Again they "think" from their own personal experiences. If they are feeding a family of 2 lets say then ordering 190 packs of tuna, 80 Mac & cheese and 20 Shake N bake - would seem "NUTS" to them.

They then go straight to the "evil" conculsion that she must be "up to something". I get this question at least twce a week. I then tell the person that they have to think from others perspective and that I know a person who has 15 family members to feed each and every meal and that what it takes for her to run her household is vasty different that a person who has 1-2 people.

Again not that this makes anything "feel" better or lesson the frustration, because you have not done anything wrong, but just trying to perhaps give people some insight into employees and why they make think differently.
