I am referring to the Giant Food store card. Giant doesn't offer gas cards. Shell has their own gas card for discounts.
Hope that helps-- Foodie ![]() |

Have you tried scanning your card at the self checkout at Giant? Our store has the handheld scanners - which I like to use - but that means my card is scanned first. I'm wondering if it's worth it to give up the hand held scanner and just use self checkout? |

I actually dislike the gas points for the most part. Maybe this is because I haven't tried hard enough to match up Q's with gas point deals, or maybe I just don't like the things that are usually included in the deals.. Or both?
For example, I just can't seem to justify buying 8 of an item that I usually wouldn't ever buy, just for .10 off a gallon of gas. It also doesn't help that the nearest S&S gas station is nearly 10 miles away - the only one within a 20-30 mile radius and you usually have to wait at least 10 minutes in line because there are only 6 pumps. Now.. if they were to offer items in the deals that I would actually like to buy and start outsourcing their gas program to local gas stations (like I have seen happening with Big Y), then I would probably be more excited about it. In a nutshell, the current setup of the program in my area, with the majority of items offered, just isn't working for me. Though the few times that they have offered gas point deals that were relevant to me, and I scored .60/gallon, I will be the first to admit that it was a good feeling to fill up my tank @ $2/gallon! |

FYI: My coupons do not double @ stop and shop unless my rewards card has been scanned. I'm not sure if that is how it works @ Giant - but be aware of this if you are attempting to do what Foodie has listed above in regards to card order.

The Stop and Shop by me counts your dollars spent after coupons and sales to your gas points.
They have special deals that earn more points most weeks. I still haven' figured out if you can get multiply sets of these points. For example. If you by 3 A1 Steak sauce you get 200 points. Do you get 400 if you buy six in the same purchase? |

I LOVE the gas points program! I think our highest saved was $1/gal, which made for a pretty awesome trip to the gas station. Oh, if I could get $2/gal gas every time I fill up...

The current sale had under the "buy 3 get 200 points" Clorox toilet bowl cleaner for $1.89ea - I had $ .75 Q for each that doubled and i ended up paying $ .39 each for the cleaner and got the 200 points. I did it twice so far. I am going on a trip in 8 days and would like to fill up the tank at a discount and then when I get back to fill it up again at the discounted price. I also have 2 cards to load with points.

Hi,
Yes, in the A1 steak sauce example. You buy 3 A1 sauces get an extra 200 points and then you can buy another 3 A1 sauces to get the 2nd set of 200 points for a total of 400 points=buy 6 A1 items receive 400 points total. I haven't tried to do 1 big transaction to get for example--the 6 A1 items and receive a total of 400 points (3 A1 items=200 extra points per transaction). I guess you could buy all 6 items and receive 400 total extra points as in the above example. I prefer to do separate transactions to be sure. When the coupon that spits out showing the extra fuel points from the register with the register receipt, I go online at home to verify my extra fuel points and the PSP $ amounts to be sure I receive the correct fuel point amount credited on my Giant card. If you don't receive the correct credited amount for the fuel points (regular purchases or extra fuel points), just contact Customer Service to correct. I don't use Self Checkouts at Giant or the hand held scanners--too time consuming for me. I usually pre-plan my trips to Giant and extra fuel points down to the penny, etc. As far as presenting Competitor Coupons (if allowed) and MQ(s) to be doubled up to $.99, I like I stated previously, let the cashier scan ALL my items (purchases). Then when asked ahead of time for my Giant card, I simply wait until he/she has scanned ALL my items. I just tell the cashier that I will wait and if the cashier insists, I just say politely I will wait. You don't have to give the card to the cashier first. Give the cashier the card after they hit subtotal key, then my MQ(s), and my card. It works for me this way. Giant will give you full credit for the items if you give the card AFTER you MQ(s). Yes, your coupons will still double if you give your card LAST, it has worked for me. Thanks. Hope that helps-- Foodie ![]() Last edited by foodie; 04-07-2011 at 11:30 PM.. |
