I've been busy over the past 24 hours. I made another 16 pints of strawberry jam yesterday evening. I've also dehydrated 12 quarts of strawberries. Homemade granola was also on the agenda today. I am enjoying dehydrating the strawberries as I am adding it to the granola mix. That stuff is gonna be really dangerous to me.....it's good

Dehydrated another 7 quarts of strawberries and 2 quarts of blueberries from the freezer today. I'm not sure how these blueberries will turn out. Has anyone dehydrated berries from frozen before???

I have. When we thought our freezer was dying, I started dehydrating and canning everything in it. They turn out fine. Takes them a little longer frozen though to dry.

Thanks Foggy....I knew you would know

I quick thawed mine in a pan of warm water before tossing them in the dehydrator. I don't know if that will expedite the process or not. I can't wait to make the next batch of granola. It's gonna be strawberry/blueberry granola. Doesn't that sound delish over a bowl of vanilla yogurt???

That does! Quick thawing them too helps them dry faster, so you're good to go.


I have more strawberries to dry since I bought more Friday at Aldi's. The one flat per customer was horrible. I did get oldest ds to buy some though so that worked.

Plus I still have turnips to do, more beans to can, carrots now since I bought 5 bags (10lbs) at Aldi's too for .39 per bag, and some butternut squash still to work on.

Seems like I'm forgetting something too. eek.

Foggy I don't know if you need any more but they had lifted the limit today. They had also raised the price back to .79/quart but I was more than okay with that. It's still less than 1/2 what Bi-Lo is wanting for the same thing. I bought 4 more flats :/ Gonna be busy tonight It's a good kind of busy though. I feel like I am in my element when I am canning/dehydrating/preserving.
