I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about or not....when I worked in a daycare/learning center, we did weekly themes for our lesson plans. Say Feb--we did hearts/vday for the week of valentines, and then we'd pick themes for the other weeks....maybe fairy tales week, weather week, etc. For fairy tales, we might do a different fairy take each day as a theme (or we'd do one fairy tale the whole week)--we'd read a book about the tale of the day (or the same book each day, or different books all on the same fairy tale), we'd do a craft based on it, we'd do math stuff...maybe counting big bad wolves printed on a page, lol, or even counting how many pictures of the big bad wolf was in a book, we'd find songs/fingerplays/poems based on fairy tales. We'd search games to play based on fairytales...you get the idea.

We might choose a color for each week, and learn what that color was. or a number and letter for the week. Or a book for a week--and read through it time and time again. A song for a week....etc.

For preschool, themes are really fun, and make it easy to plan out a lesson plan for the week. Esp with pinterest out there to print stuff from on the different themes!!! Also, I LOVED The Mailbox Magazine for teaching preschool and kindergarten--cause they do themed type ideas. I *think* it's like $30 for the yr--and it's a bi-monthly magazine. Each one has a game in the middle to pull out and play, books to read, crafts to make, and food to eat. I used it alot when my kids were in preschool and K (it goes up through elementary school, but I don't use it much anymore...I should, lol).

I hope that is kind of what you were asking about?!

There are neato pages I've seen on pinterest, too--you could print one off, put it in a page protector or laminate it, and write on it with a dry erase marker--but it asks questions of the kids each day--what day of the week is today, what is the weather, what kind of clothes did you wear today (ex, warmer clothes cause it's winter, cooler clothes cause of spring/summer), what's the letter/number for today....might have a poem to learn that day/week, too. Not that you need to print it off--it could just be something you do each day to teach the kids to observe weather/days of week/routines/etc.

I forget you don't have home internet. Please, you don.t HAVE to have it. There are some great preschool ideas books out there!! We used 2-3 of them to piece together our lesson plans in the daycare. You might even find some at your library!! If not...just check out books from the library for the themes you are thinking of! Goodness knows there are tons of books that would fit into different themes!! Alot of stuff can be done on your own with some thought and prayer. Matching colors...big hearts and little hearts cut from construction paper....match the colors! You coukd even put numbers or letters on them, and have your wee one match the 1's and 2's or a's and b's. You coukd make patterns w the hearts, too...pink, red, pink, red, what comes next? And hearts in feb, shamrocks in march, eggs in april....etc.

Here's something that came across my fb feed today that I found interesting: Differentiating Home Preschool

We do read lots lots lots of books...today we painted our numbers traced shapes and numbers and colors..circled appropriate color items...(dry erase workbooks)...traced her name...watched leap frog number DVD...sang songs...played picnic/tea party...she folded all dish towels and hand towels and matched all our socks...(kids have zany colored patterned socks too) so I guess I'm doing something Right
