I like the first comment on article. It says who wants ice cream in a store with young children "what a mess". Duh JC Penney. I don't care what you do, I don't like you and I won't shop with you, you are useless in my life no matter what you offer, unless you give me gift cards. Lol. I can't reuse gift cards.

I don't think it's a loss cause. That's just my opinion. The article says that the CEO is trying to wean people off of the major discounts associate with sales and coupons which takes away a big chunk of profit from them. Well duh!!!! Consumers wantt a good deal and bargains.

I get such secondhand embarrassment when I read about JCPenney these days. It seems like they wanted to lure in more of the younger crowd that shops at places like H&M or Old Navy but teens & college kids aren't buying it. And the image revamp backfired because they have now alienated most of the demographic that was most loyal to them...namely older people who have always shopped at a traditional department store. And anyone in this post-recession country that doesn't believe that most shoppers WANT regular coupons and sales has no business being CEO of a retail company. The Kohls stores around here are packed while JCPenney (sorry, "JCP" ) is a desert. That should tell him something.

I have a feeling JcPenny's will close their doors soon. It is sad but I can't seem them making such a big rebound this holiday season. I pray they do only because of all the store employees that will lose their jobs if they close.

I don't like them either, and haven't stepped foot in one in years. Disorganized, no staff to help you, poor quality. I feel the same way about Sears. I don't go there either for the same reasons.

And this streets thing with ice cream & pilates? Is he serious? That makes me want to actively AVOID JCP, not go there to shop.

I think the new JCP is so nice. But I know at first there were less people in there at first but it has picked up a lot in the last few months. It has nicer clothes at a "normal" price. The prices aren't really any different than Kohls but without the coupons. We have an Elderbeerman here as well & it is like the "old" Penney's. a Columbia jacket that I got was marked at $150, is always on sale for $99. Has been since the put it on the rack. No way is it worth that. The only coupons without exclusions are the Goodwill coupons without that I would've gotten my coat elsewhere. The no hassle prices are always real. I used to wait for uniform pants to go on sale but now I know they are $18 a pair & get them whenever I want at that price.

Hmmm maybe start with better PRODUCTS that people want Used to LOVE going to JCP. Now their clothes match their prices~ CHEAP!
