73,000 on my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe
140,000 on dh's 2001 Dodge Ram pick-up

We actually bought a new car 2 weeks ago - a 2009 Dodge Caliber. We got it for 30% off sticker price. We paid for half up front and financed the other half on a 3 year loan. We plan to sell dh's truck and will put that $ toward the loan.

We had thought of the cash for clunkers program, but I am not sure of all of the stipulations that are included in it. We ended up with a $6000 discount and wonder if we could have gotten as much of a discount using the cash for clunkers $. The guys at the dealership had said that it may have income restrictions and could require an application (meaning a long approval wait). Of course, they were trying to sell us a car, so I don't know how accurate their info was. .

No... but have you heard of having to go to the bathroom realllly bad and can't get out cuz the locks are stuck?! It happened to me a few weeks ago. Everything electric is going to crap... rear defrost don't work, dr. side window don't work, drivers side lock is no longer electric, a/c sucks. The only thing is it's pd. for and no payments.

I bought the car used, but it wasn't 6 months old when I bought it... I no longer have the car but I had defrost problems the first winter I had the car... Cracked head on the engine... Oil gasket problems... I could go on and on if I could remember all the problems I had with the car... I haven't had the car in my possession for years and I don't miss it which is kind of sad since it was my first car... Coicidently the only car I had payments on too! What a POS that poor car was!

Cash for clunkers doesn't require an application and there is no wait time. You get the discount at the dealership. It is $4,500 but some dealerships are offering incentives with it like matching their money for a total discount of $9,000. The stipulations are: has to have insurance on it and be registered to you for 1yr or longer, must get less than or equal to 18mpg, and can't be older than 1984.

We are thinking about getting a Sentra. Anyone have any issues with those?

95 Chevy Lumina around 250k (which is a miracle)
87 Plymouth Voyager - broke the odometer
88 Ford E350 - broke the odometer
88 Ford F150 - About 150k

Wish I could get a newer vehicle but I would have to find a third or fourth job to get one.
