Had an interesting experience at Kroger's today. Today was the last day for my store's ad for a particular match up. The dawn 4/$5, with 7-31 P&G coupon for .50 which doubles per item for Dawn soap costing .25. Not free but good deal.
Anyways had my DH with me and knowing Kroger's policy of 3 like items with coupons, I gave him 3 Dawn's and 3 coupons sent him to the uscan for his purchase. I did the same transaction on another uscan. Gave coupons to the clerk to take off coupons. Didn't think it would be an issue. Well I was wrong while I was paying for my purchase, the clerk tells my husband that what we did is not allowed. She said she knew we were together and a new policy is in place where you can now only purchase 3 like items per household. Because of the new extreme couponing show they have been forced to do this. Really? For 6 Dawn soaps, does that constitute as extreme couponing? It takes my DH a lot to get upset. His reply to her was how do you not know that is not my sister your assuming she is my wife/girlfriend. She said in the future you can come in one at a time and do it but you cannot be in the store at the same time. She also said she would allow it this time only. I didn't realize that Kroger's is now monitoring what we buy and can't buy. If I was to go in and buy 20 Dawn soaps with no coupons I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with me making the purchase. But throw the coupon into it and it changes everything. I think they are opening up a can of worms. They are going to say this to the wrong person who may take it as they were discriminating against them in another way. I wish them luck. Anyone have this issue yet? Definitely will contact corporate on this one. I want a copy of this new policy on paper. So tired of stores using the extreme couponing show cop out. Just a family of 5 on one income and no assistance trying to get the best deals. Does this make me a bad person??? |

I have had similar issues as yours. I called Corp and it took them almost 2 weeks to get me a policy for my store. It considers one trip per 24 hours per household. So they are saying we can buy 3 like items that double every 24 hours per household! I think eventually they will attach this to our Kroger's card and when we scan it they will know if we have been in within the last 24 hours to make that purchase. Sucks! I got the excuse that "we don't want extreme couponers in our store" and my Q's I was using were not for doubling. I just wanted to pre-order some dog food and use my Q's.

At mine in Michigan I went in at 730 am. I literally was the only person in the store who was not an employee. The literally made me walk out of the store and come back in before I could do my next transaction. I was super nice about it and the cashier at the u scan was pretty embarrassed that she asked me to do it. She said people have been lining up trans one after the other and she was just trying to be consistent. To your point though, if I wasn't using Qs I'm sure I could have dont multiple trans with no issue.

One of the local Krogers I go to already limits the doubling per card. They only double two like coupons up to .50, so we used to be able to bypass this by doing multiple transactions. Now, however, they link it to our card and they will only double two like per day. Needless to say, I don't go to this store anymore (they despise couponers anyways) and now have to drive 45 minutes away, but it is worth it because they double 5 like coupons and I can do as many transactions as I like. All of the other stores are there too like CVS, Wags, Walmart, Staples, Kmart, and so on, so I go once a week or less depending on the deals.
I am just waiting to see how Kroger reacts when more Walmart stores start doubling coupons- no card required and so far, it looks like they are doubling up to .99¢! On a side note, I go shopping with my best friend all the time. We even share the same carts some times. I wonder if they would assume we are "together," lol. |

This would have made me angry, as well. I would like to see a copy of that policy, too. I live in AZ and have a Fry's Food (Kroger). I shop with my mom every week, as she cannot do it on her own very well, and I do both her transaction and mine...one after the other. It would send me over the edge if they were to tell me that I cannot do what you are describing.
Please keep us posted. They are getting their money from the companies when they send them in...plus .08. To start treating customers like crap because we are using them is absurd! They get their money, we get our product....is it simply because they don't like the hassle of doing coupons???? Seriously.....complain to the companies then, not the people using them! ![]() |

I wouldn't pay any attention to her interpretation of the policy. Your not clearing the shelves. You did 2 transactions with 2 different people. I see nothing wrong with it.
My Krogers has a 5 like Q rule. Most of the cashiers let me do an extra transaction or let 1 extra Q go through. If my Krogers is busy I'm extra careful of what I do. But I like to shop late at night and the night cashier doesn't care what I do. No one is going to see him bend the rules for me. |

You know what would be funny..If all of us as couponers made a day were we went into the store and got the cheapest product but not use a coupon on it but bought it all off of the shelve..Wonder what they would say about that..I go with my best friend shopping and I am actually thinking about doing this..We know a few couponers in our town and we have a lot of family members that would be glad to assist us in doing so..lol..Bet we wouldn't have a darn problem at all...Than turn around and come back in the store and say I want to return these items cause they were too expensive without my coupons...lol..Yeah I can be a devil at times..lol
Coupons are my daily activity....
