I'm going to give it a shot again this year. I didn't exactly fall off the wagon, but I stopped checking in. My goals are budget & Christmas oriented lol. I'd like to have $1200 + for Christmas (yes I know that's a lot but that's how I like to do Christmas ) & I fund my Christmas through rebates, apps, etc so it doesn't come out of the General budget $. Anyhoo, that's about $109 a month that I'll need to put back. I'm shooting for 10 no spend/ low spend days (which will be tough) & staying on budget for groceries ($250/mo), couponing/stockpiling ($40/mo), spending ($80/mo) & extras ($100/mo). I'm also going to try & be vigilant on my rebate apps & code entering.

Love has reasons which reason cannot understand.

Today was a spend $4 for newspapers. Got my Coke codes put in for the week. Oh! Also I have a rebate check for $20 that I'm adding to the Christmas fund. I'm thinking of trying the dime challenge too Entered one KFR code

1/10 no spend/low spend (<$10)
0/250 grocery
0/100 extras
4/80 spending
0/40 couponing
20/109 Christmas
1/4 weeks Coke codes
0/4 weeks receipt hog
0/4 weeks receipt pal

In for this month. January is going to be scorched earth budgeting for me. I would like to only spend on Tuesdays and Fridays, but will allow myself 4 'flex' days. So that makes 18 no spend days for me for this month as a goal.

Yesterday was the 1st, so that's 1/18 for me.

This year's goals include saving for next Christmas (January and February), adding a bit to top off my savings accounts (March) and then saving EVERYTHING to pay cash for a new to me car. Hopefully I won't have too many visits from Murphy this year, I plan to live a quieter life this year, and all my friends and family are aware.

Good luck to everyone on your goals!

Murphy is like a bad omen.

"Darn Murphy came and ruined my party because I was sick."

"Darn Murphy ruined my budget because my refrigerator broke and I need to buy a new one."

"Darn Murphy made me late for my appointment because I couldn't find my car keys."

It is like blaming bad things on a mystical being.

Specifically refers to 'Murphy's Law' - "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong".

Treasurehouse is 100% correct in her application.

Amos I bought a new to me car last year through the Hertz Rent to Buy Program. You actually rented a car for up to three days. You had enough time to get it checked out by a mechanic which I did. If you bought the car you did not pay the rental fee. My car had nearly 40k miles but it is a Toyota which is not a lot of miles for them. The car was about half the price of a new one. I plan to rotate cars this year with my husband and dil so I plan to use Hertz again.
