Today is the first day to e-file your taxes. Remember if you earned less than $55,000 you may be able to file for free. You can go to the preparers web site or go to IRS.gov and follow the prompts for free online filing. It really is free.

Ugh...my husband filed ours yesterday through TurboTax, and already authorized it to deduct the fee from our refund. If only you had posted this yesterday! Lol. Is this done every year?

Yes. They were late starting this year due to all the "fun" congress was having with our finances.

Also as a reminder to everyone, you really should be only paying/getting back very little amount! Otherwise you need to adjust your witholding so Uncle Sam doesn't get a free loan from you!

We adjusted ours January 1st. We will no longer be loaning uncle same our money each year. I'll be putting that money in savings every week so it gains interest.
We adjusted ours for 2012 but it wasn't enough...we are still getting a large return..so...I got a little extra help this time and we have it adjusted right for 2013.
I've already noticed the difference and the money is gaining interest.

Yep....adjust your dependents. Your tax person can help you. My husband is salary so our checks never change. That made it easier. Our refunds have remained almost the same the past 6 years. Just ask your tax professional to help you.
It changed ours a few hundred per paycheck.
