Kind of a gross subject here but I am so frustrated and I was hoping maybe some one on here is having the same problem or someone they know has a child that stool holds.
My dd she is 3 1/2 yo and she started potty training at 2 1/2 and she did fine peeing no problem there. So goes pee by herelf now in the potty without any help from me. The problem is pooping! She totally holds it and its not just for a little while I mean for a week or longer! She will get to day 3 or 4 of holding and look bloated and her mood will change she also will not want to go out anywhere because she is uncomfortable. It is a battle with her and she is totally winning. There is no taking her to the toilet and making her sit on it to go poop she will not and I feel this is discouraging to her because I am trying to control something she wants too. She is not constipated because when she does go it is soft so I know that is not an issue. I have tried Miralax and I will not go that route again because it was miserable for her and its not a natural way for her. I would rather go more for a natural way for this. I am doing as much fiber as I can in her diet. She is the worlds more pickest eater so her diet is not the best. I just don't know what to do any more I never thought I would have to fight my child to poop. I am afraid she will get use to enemas and suppositorys because after she reaches the week mark that is what I have to do. Just in case you are wonder I have taken her to the doctor for this and they are the ones that recommended Miralax for her. Any suggestions here? ![]() Thanks |

Had the same problem with my son. He would pee in the toilet just fine, but would hold the other in. He was miserable, but he would not sit on the toilet. We tried giving him more fiber, and sitting him on the toilet until he went (of course he fought and didn't go). He always has a bowel movement in the morning (every day) so my husband and I would put on the diaper around the time we knew he had to go, and although he had a problem going on the diaper too, he eventually would. If he held it in for a day, we'd give him prune juice and he'd end up going on the diaper. Once he was done, we'd take the diaper and dump the poo in the toilet so he could see that's where it went. We did this for about a month or two, and then out of the blue, one night right before we were going to bed, he had to go poo and just went straight to the bathroom and went.
I know it's really frustrating and you feel so bad to see her like that, but she'll end up going when she's ready. |

I think maybe she needs to know everybody poops. There is a book out there about it.
Also, if it were me, I would bring them in the bathroom with me when I went. Might not be the most comfortable of things, but I promise it won't damage her for life. We have tried books and she goes in the bathroom with me all the time. Still nothing! My daughter has a control issue meaning she wants to control everything. She is in an independent stage right now so it hard on us. I have tried to trick her with candy and things like that. Tonight I told her we would have a poop poop party...
She got all excited so maybe she will poop and have a party and see what happens. Now I need to get her to poop! She is already on day 4 of not going. |

My daughter didn't have that exact problem but she had trouble going so the dr. recomended fiber in her drink like benefiber I am currently using the metamucil clear in her milk or juice every morning she doesn't even know its in there if you get the drink ready before she gets up or the night before. The Dr. told me to use half of the adult dose. So my DD gets one rounded teaspoon a day in her drink. Also try to give her an apple everyday at lunch and fiber bread with her sandwich etc. She is very picky too so it is hard but the fiber in her drink helps. Also Banana's apple juice, apple sauce these all help. Hopefully the poop poop party helps

Lukas did this..it was terrible we still have some issues. It IS a control thing as well as possible psychological (ds had a hard time pooing once and it hurt so he was afraid it would hurt every time) we did the enema route suppositories, and of course more fiber..nothing mattered. Its almost something he has had to outgrow.
I did sticker charts with Ella she on the other hand has had NO trouble poopin on the potty! you could try the goo poopy for a week on the potty every day adn get a surprise.. and Ella are my
