Default need advice

Hi everyone. Okaay so lately we have been broke with barely enough money to pay our bills. And I am seriously tired of living this way. My DH works over time every single week but whether he gets a lot of OT or a few hours OT , his checks stay about the same because of taxes ugh! And I work too but I am scheduled to work 5-15 hours a week! really!? -.- so I need to find a way to make money without wasting alot of money. EBay didn't work for me :/

A little info about me:
I am 23 years old. I live with my boyfriend and his 3 kids (our kids) I am a stepmommy [ages: 5, 8, &11]
we have 3 cats (outdoor) , 6 kittens (indoor /time to give away) and 1 big pitbull that eats alot (indoor/outdoor)

any advice on how to make some extra cash would be greatly appreciated TIA.

You won't get rich off of it, but you can give swagbucks a try while you find yourself a job with better hours or something.

If I remember correctly, you did post in the SB threads a couple of times, didn't you? Was it not working out for you?

Do you live in a state with a state income tax? I was just curious because I know that if we get overtime, it definitely makes a difference in our paychecks, so I was trying to figure out why it doesn't in your husband's case. Can you adjust your withholding?

I don't know what your budget looks like, but are there any expenses that you can cut down on? Sometimes that's easier than bringing in more income.

Yes I have a swagbucks account but I only have mobile & I can't watch videos, play games, print coupons etc.

He has it adjust to 6 dependants. Oh & he pays child support for his other daughter. They end up taking around $270 out of his check per week, $100 child support & $170 on tax. Idk much about the taxes but he said ever since Obama passed a law they have been taking more out of his paycheck.

Maybe I missed something, but wouldn't another job be a great way to bring in more money? Even if it's the best job in the world, you need more than 15 hours a week to really make it worth it.

As for the taxes, he's right. Obama raised the rates on most taxpayers and has no plans to change it.

Until you can find another job, you may want to focus on things you can reduce. Call on your insurance provider, your cable/cell/ provider, etc... and ask for a discount or cut back on services. Every dollar you save is really worth $1.30 because you didn't have to work to earn it.

Cut back on driving - gas is expensive and maybe small trips can be done in one day instead of once a day? More meals from scratch or a meatless meal here and there.

Barter your time in exchange for other things. Maybe the local vet needs someone to come in and clean cages, sweep the floors and will trade dog/cat food for your time. Offer to sit with an elderly/sick person and give the primary caregiver a few hours respite. Look at craigslist - you would be amazed at the barter forum sometimes. You are young and could do many things as it sounds like you don't have the kids with you all the time.

Hope some of this helps.

I barter for things we need since I don't currently work. Cat fostering and cleaning cages in exchange for cat food and vet services. I do yard and garden work, got my husband a 4 wheeler in exchange recently! I run errands for an elderly couple, she bakes cakes and bread for us. Swap garden goodies for some of my own, etc.
Put the word out and once you get a family or two to get to know you and your work, they will recommend you to others.

You are amazing for considering your self a step mom at 23 it's more then enough responsibility.... Well IMO I think you need to get a job that offers more hours or go back to school your young that way you can start a career. Cut down on in need things cook more just the little things really save a lot of money. And really you bf is responsible for the household more so then you so I would go all crazy. My sister Inlaw is 24is with a guy that has 4 kids and he pays 1400 a month for three and another 25o a week for a new baby she goes crazy all the time and crys and she doesn't have not 1 kid. I feel so bad for her but you can't help who you fall in love with....

Oh, so you don't have a computer! Okay, that makes things a bit more challenging. Sorry about that!

Yes, ending the payroll tax holiday hurt a lot of people, especially those who were not prepared for it. Hopefully there is some other way to make the most out of his paycheck! Good luck to you

when kids are off school, do you have to stay with them all the time or do they go to their mom(s) in the summer?

if you have to stay home to tend to your stepkids and your BF, it'll be best for you to find work online. First thing is to invest in a computer and pay for fast internet service. google for legit work at home jobs that pay hourly and with benefits. If I find previous posts online that people recommend, I'll PM you or post in this thread.

other ways to make money online is do surveys aside from SB. surveys don't pay much but it'll pay some of your bills so that helps. you can also do an inventory of your stuff at home that you can sell locally in craigslist.
