Are you sure there isn't a dead animal around? Last summer we had horrible flies in the basement and it turns out we had a dead squirrel stuck inside something. There wasn't a smell either.

Used the bags of water with a penny. Did not work. Lysol spray bottle, did not work. Dryer sheets, not so good. Fly traps, kinda works if you can wait for them to get in there. Nothing dead that I can find. Flies all in the garage and back porch. Keep dog poo picked up. I know my grand kids eat stuff out there, but not so much that it should keep flies.

When I moved in the flies were horrible. Landlord said he would grit rid of them. But two spring/ summer and they are still here.

At the end of my fly road now.

Have you tried making a water bottle trap? These really work.

http://insected.arizona.edu/flyrear.htm

I'd use a water bottle - same difference as the 2L in the instructions. Also, I'd just duct tape the inverted top.

I have had good luck with using 2 ltr coke bottles that you cut like ssliz posted above. I mix 1/2 cup brown sugar and add boiling water to disolve but leave space to where they go down in the liquid. I then add 2 teas yeast, it releases some chemical that they are attracted too, and this works great on mesquitos and flies. Replace every 2 weeks. Give it a try! I have them all across my back porch to catch them before they get in the house. Good Luck!
