Default Help needed ASAP!!!

Ok y'all, I am in a pickle... Any suggestions appreciated!

So yesterday I decided to change out the toilet seat since the one on there was elevated & we had bought a new seat months ago but just never got around to changing it... The seat is very old, the bolts are metal but the nuts are plastic. I broke part of the seat so there's no way to put it back on... I got one of the nuts loose within 20 mins or so but I just cannot get the other one loose! I've spent literally HOURS trying ... I'm convinced that the bolt is stripped so the nut turns but just isn't making progress... I tried WD40 to loosen. I need to cut or break the bolt. There is not enough room between the porcelain & the nut or porcelain & the top to use bolt cutters... I feel like taking a hammer to it but obviously that is not a smart thing to do... Even if I could just break the nut off I know I could get the bolt out... Any suggestions? My daughter is having a sleepover tonight so I HAVE to get this done today before school lets out!

I'm so sorry you are having a time with this. I'd say go check out the power tools you have on hand hopefully you have a Dremal ( looks like the tool used when getting acrylic nails lol) with a cutting wheel. They don't require much space and shouldn't damage the porcelain.

I have been in this same situation. Wish I had one of those tools...
Anyway, I had to cut the nut off---if I read it right that is the plastic and the bolt itself is metal(which is how mine was). I had to use a hack saw blade covered one end so I wouldn't get cut and a small pair of craft scissors that cuts wire.

Good luck!

Exactly ... The bolt is not threaded in to the actual porcelain & the only wiggle room I have is where the bearings broke... So I have about 1/4 inch to work with... My sister's bf has a tool that should work... headed over there now...

I can't get the plastic cover off the top of the bolt... Plus, I'd be scared I'd crack the toilet then I'd be up a creek! If the cover was off I'd try a rubber mallet & something else to try & break the bolt but then again that would only work if it was a plastic bolt...
