Default Joys of sharing

I am so happy tonight and thankful for all that I have learned from all of you! My family and I are adopting some families from the school where I work for x-mas. The moms of the families didn't put anything in their wish lists, but I wanted to do something for them. I was able to make some nice baskets with all my couponing goodies like makeup, lotions, soaps, detergent, shampoo, etc... I know lots of you do this all the time, but this was one of the first times I was able to donate on a larger scale, thanks everyone!!

I was able to do that for a stranger earlier last month. I was actually sharing that with my family for the first time tonight. A lady and her boys were in the thrift store-my weakness trying on coats, men's coats for the children. They were telling their mom that it would be ok, but they wished they could have boy sizes, of which the store had none. I simply asked her if I could help and came home to raid my boys closet to take them some coats at her work the next day. (She had on a fast food uniform). Taking things to the boys was the focus, but I was able to through her a huge bag of just for girl things and a little note telling her how proud I was if what she was doing to work hard for her boys. It was only because of so many helpful people was I able to give back that day. I agree totally. Couldn't do good for others without so much help I get on here. Thanks to all you "veterans"

Thank you for starting this thread. With all the rampant consumerism that Christmas has become, it is nice that we sometimes can remember what it is all about

In the past two weeks, I've made (3) large donations of HBA to the troops, (3) donations to Toys for Tots, (1) donation to the local food bank, (6) kids adopted from the Angel Tree, (3) kids adopted elsewhere, $100 donation to a kids domestic violence shelter and many multiple donations to the Salvation Army red kettles.

I saved my change for 3+ months to donate to the SA. I resold clearance and used the money saved from coupons to help pay for the donations. I triple and quadruple stacked coupons and discounts. I went through my stockpile to help as well.

I have been "laughed at" for stockpiling and paying in cash. I've been called a Doomsday Prepper falsely. What they missed-- It was never about me in the first place. If I want to see change for the better, I have to be that change.

My son even spent $15 of his hard earned money and donated two jr basketballs to a small child. I am so proud and warmed by his generosity.

I donated two large boxes of diapers, big box of wipes, baby wash, and 6 toys. This weekend and with all of my fruggle manner in which I shop and save has helped me do all this for others and then turn around and have to buy $600 worth of tires on my car.. so people can make fun of me all they want because I can quickly recover from a large expense like buying the tires.. I spend almost $200 on donated items and just about completed my Christmas shopping minus one gift..

We have a group here in my county that specifically helps the elderly. Each year you can "adopt" a senior. You get a list of their needs and wants for the holidays, and the senior center will deliver it. They also have a pantry with health and personal care items that you can donate to anytime during the year.

I have adopted seniors a few years in a row now. It is always so fun to see the lists and get items that they not only need, but will get enjoyment from.

This year, I have donated three bags of hbas for the elderly, two bags of hbas for two teens on the Angel Tree and a toy for a child on the Angel Tree. I have also given a bag of items to my coupon buddy for her nine year old daughter. My husband and I bought my nephew's Santa gift too.
