Help Neighbor From Heck!!!

Hi....

I have a neighbor from Hell !!!!

Dh and I just move into a brand new apartment, April of this year.

Before we lived on the top floor before moving on the three floor ( Wow) it a mess having rules breaking resident living on top of you..

To make this very short and sweet..

We have talk to manager she have came to our apartment sit down and listen to noise that been made on top of us...

She waiting on her manager to get back to her....

THESE ARE OUR CHOICES...

1) She move us into another build since we can't stand noise on a top floor..
( If she move some one else on top of us we will not be happy)
( Why should we have to move, I like the area ) We lease here first..

2) We break our lease ( I'll willing to do)

If we goes to court and we testify their not enough complain to get the neighbor kick out..

When security is call they can't come inside your living area because it for there safe.
You can't hear outside running, jumping, dog barking, thing dropping until you come inside the apartment.

We have call security every night keeping a log each time that we do.

I talk to the manager on this morning, She saying that it every day living..

When you have neighbor ,( JUMPING,STUMPING,THING DROPPING,DOG BARKING)
over your bathroom by your bed this is normal (WOW)!!!!

From sun up to sun down..

Dh took few vacation days last week to get some RR!!! We park our cars behind another area so they would not see our cars to made excessive noise.

(My Patience has worn very thin at this present time)

AS I type this up !!! Running, Jumping, Dog Barking,Thing Dropping !!

Honestly, when you have a neighbor upstairs, things sound a LOT worse than they actually are. What sounds like a microwave or other huge appliance falling might just be a dropped tube of refridgerator biscuits. What sounds like a heard of elephants racing across the floor might just be a 2 yr old playing. If you haven't ever had an upstairs neighbor before, it can be unsettling.

In our old house, we had 2 stories and we also had 3 cats. Generally, because homes are built better than apartment buildings, kids playing around upstairs didn't make that much noise. But man, if those 3 cats went chasing each other across the floor, you would have thought they were 10 giant rottweilers or something. They were just cats, but the racket they could make upstairs was crazy.

The point being, it can sound like people are being extraordinarily loud, when it's really just normal everyday living.

Unfortunately, sometimes the walls are just paper thin and like happysmileylady said, it can sound like elephants when it's really just a 10lb housecat. Maybe you could play some music to help drown out the noise?

I understand about animal living in apartment setting also kids, but when you have neighbor living under you it ok to keep the rules in your lease sign off before 10.00pm if not during the day hours.

Dh and I have live on all level in apartment but we have always thought about neighbor living under us.

Have anyone live through this before..

Were counting down the months before we leave if we don't break the lease before than..

Well, you are the only one living, we here haven't heard it of course to make an actual determination. But, if I am understanding you correctly, you have had at least one manager, maybe 2?, in to hear it and they are telling you it's just normal life. Generally, apartment managements hear noise complaints day and night and have a pretty good ear for what is excessive noise and what isn't.

Obviously these folks have at least one dog, perhaps more than one? Maybe what you are hearing as dropping things is actually the dog(s) jumping around.

I know this isn't the same but we rented a vacation condo and the people in that place NEVER stopped (seriously all hours of the day and night they were walking around upstairs). Luckily it was only for a week but I can feel your pain.

I realize they weren't doing anything excessive but it did get annoying. Perhaps your neighbors work different hours so after 10 pm isn't late for them but early, who knows. It seems to me that your only options would be to move apartments and hope the new neighbor(s) are more acceptable since there probably isn't much that can be done unless they are playing loud music late into the night or something that is excessive. You also don't want to end up in a battle with neighbors because they could make it even worse for you depending on how vindictive they are.

Your concerns are one reason I would have a difficult time ever living in an apartment again since these days they seem to be put up so quickly and have virtually no insulation between walls/floors.

Hopefully you can come up with a workable solution quickly *hug*.

You just need to move. If you can break your lease - then fine - if not - move to another building. They know you are reporting them and are not going to stop. Be glad your car hasn't been keyed yet.

What were hearing adult and kids jumping, stomping, dropping things all time of day and night along with animal barking.

When the manager first heard the noise sitting in my living room, her reply were how long this been going on..(wow) how do you guys take this...Since I spoke to you when it first happen,
She going up stair and talk to resident, The manager said she was going to give a 10 days notice, before leaving my place...

After she leave the noise pick up again, that normal living it was so normal why the resident stop when manager was visiting...

I receive a call from the lease office the day manager visit the resident, and was told the noise was not going to get any better..

To keep a log each time we call security..

This morning I spoke with the manager in her office ( And then she tell me it normal living, because security can't go inside the apartment to hear the noise...

I don't care what other are saying were the one who hearing this noise and living this (Hell) until the lease is broken are something happen long or short term.
