First of all welcome to WUC!! The ppl here are awesome and they have made a huge difference in the way I make purchases in my life.
Before I started using this website and listening to all the helpful ppl here, running out of things and paying full price because we had to get more was common for us and it cost us a fortune! Now I have a nice stockpile on virtually every necessity we use and then some that I will be selling off at a yardsale this month(man I hope they sell). By watching these wonderful ladies and gents post sales and clearance alerts, I'm also done with ALL of my children's christmas shopping....all I need are a set of pjs for both of them. So I hope this is all as helpful to you as it was for me and thanks again to all of you who make these things possible ![]() Forum Leader for Toys R Us/Babies R Us

Welcome! This site has helped my family tremendously in these hard times! My hubby was laid off in January, and was thankfully able to find a good job in July, but not until things got very rough for us financially. All the tips on here helped us make it through it and continues to help us make it through our transition of a lower paying job. Ask any questions - there are really some wonderful people on here, who are willing to help!!! =)

SO glad to have you here! Everybody is really nice and welcoming, and all you have to do is ask for help and you'll get it!
I advise you to read and research first. Different stores have different coupon policies, so that's an important area to understand. Also: definitely get a coup-anion - a 'mentor' who will share their coupons with you, share organizing tips, plus they can help you get acquainted to this site and to coupon usage in general. Once you have a fair amount of coupons, you might want to join a 'train' - or trade with others. Check out the auctions, too. Often, other members will trade an envelope of assorted coupons for a few stamps. There are lots of ways to acquire more coupons! I don't have a baby anymore (BOOHOO! all grown up!), so I keep all of the baby-related coupons and then trade them with others for stuff that I need and use. Two things that I wish I had paid attention to when I first got started: 1) NEVER (EVER) throw away ANY coupon, even if you think there's not a smidgen of a chance that you will use it! Someone else may need it and you can share it with them, trade with them, etc...OR you might find the item on clearance, etc. and with your coupon (the one you thought you'd never use!) it may be FREE or almost free. So get it! Then, give it to a friend, donate to charity, keep for a stockpile sale.... 2) ALWAYS check your receipt! Count the number of coupons before handing them to the cashier, then after the transaction ends, count the number of coupons (on the receipt) that were applied to your purchase. Make sure that they were doubled or tripled if they were supposed to be... ensure that sale or clearance items rang up that way, etc. If you do this every time, you'll also often find a mistake in your favor! Finally, don't get burned out early on... it seems a lot of people go full guns ahead at first, then they sort of hit a 'burnout' phase. Learning and saving takes time. You'll make a few mistakes but you'll learn something from every one of them! I always roll my eyes when my husband says this, but it is so true: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.... So, take it slow, meet new friends, learn a LOT, and have fun! Coupons are like lottery tickets that win every time!

Always, and always, watch the register when the cashier is taking off your coupons. Like the other post said, count them and count them again, but watch and make sure that they don't drop one or just skip it.
