hello! I'm new to the site and will be stopping by this section frequently; I'm not 100% organic but I've been trying to incorporate it more & more into my family's diet. Since last summer I've started buying organic dairy, eggs, and canned foods (plus growing and canning my own), as well as peanut butter and kids snack foods. I usually do mostly organics for produce. The cheapskate in me has such a hard time spending double (or more) for organic meat but I'm hoping this site will help me cut costs in other places so I will feel better about spending more in the meat dept. Looking forward to checking out the forum!

I have chemical sensitivity issues (and I'm also allergic to corn), so I buy natural and/or organic products for cooking and personal care. The only processed foods you'll find in this household are things hubby eats, and ever since he discovered how good eating natural food makes him feel, he doesn't eat much that's processed anymore. As for his personal care, he uses the products we can get for free (or super cheap) with coupons.

I grow my own tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini and peppers in the summer. I tried to grow peaches and eggplant too, but we have a serious Japanese Beetle problem where I live...

I make my own fabric softener, cleaning spray & window cleaner. Vinegar, baking soda and essential oils are my friends.

As for food, everything we eat is made from scratch (including jam, dill pickles, pasta sauce, bread, wheat crackers, pizza, ketchup, salad dressing and everything else most people take for granted). In fact, I can't remember the last time I put something in my mouth that was processed. There are a few things that I miss, mind you, but I go through a lot of turn of the century cookbooks to find out how people made things prior to the point that companies started making them.

Who here buys Organics and/or Natural Products? I do!!

Grows your own fruits and veggies? I try, but this year was a flop.

Makes some of your own natural products (cleaning, shampoo, etc.)? No, not yet.

We are switching to more organic and natural foods. Got rid of most things with artifical colors and flavors. Sweets now consists of Cliff Kids organic fruit twists and fruit leathers and organic lollipops.

I'd like to start making my own cleaners. The commerical cleaners give me headaches!

I buy as much organic as possible in my budget. I tend a large garden, can, raise chickens for eggs and meat, and rabbits for meat and furs. I am looking to add a dairy cow this year. I am also an avid hunter, and also volunteer to butcher other hunters deer for a portion of the meat- that always works out well for me.
I use homemade natural cleaners and cloth diapers on my little ones.

I'm about 50%, most of our household cleaning supplies are natural/organic, I developed a slight sensitivity to common cleaning products while pregnant with my daughter 5 years ago. I will buy my cleaning products only on a deeply discounted sale, right now I have a case of Seventh Gen laundry soap waiting for me at my local grocery store. For me couponing has helped get more organics/natural products into our household. I will only use Tom's of Maine Toothpaste and deodorant and find that unlike many couponers I don't get those items for free, BUT they are a buck or so versus $5(or more). I feel like it's worth it, since my daughter seems to have a sensitivity to Crest and such.

We live in a very natural/organic area and much of the time have access to local organic foods. In the summer we have a large garden and much of our produce comes from there.

For me the biggest challenge is trying to find my organic coupons, I now have discovered e-bay to be my friend in this.
