I'm glad to see Mavoureen's featured post today which links to this forum. I don't know why I hadn't thought to come here yet!

I buy organic as much as possible, except that in the last few years since my divorce, I have had to let my 100% go because of financial concerns. I would love it if couponing would allow me to get back to 100% organic buying.

I have always had a garden, but for the last 10 years, it has been a battle of me against the shade. Many more failures than successes.

I almost always buy my eggs from a friend who raises chickens. I have high standards for eggs! I've even turned friends on to organic (or even just free range) eggs by showing them a typical factory egg in a bowl compared to a free range egg. The difference is immediately evident - and then you taste it!!

I work for an organization that has several hundred acres of organic farmland, raises alpacas and wins awards for recycling. I've been there for 16 years and it has had an environmental commitment since the year I joined them, so I've been well-educated on environmental causes.

For the last few years, I've been planning to hit organic "u-pick" berry and veggie fields when they are in season and freeze or can. I haven't been able to get my act together to do this, but I hope I'm "there" this year.

I make my own laundry soap (which I love more than any other soap I've ever purchased) and plan to start making my own dishwasher soap as soon as my supply runs out.

I'm a breast cancer survivor, so I try really hard to buy organic beauty products because I don't like the thought of putting chemicals or estrogen-emulators on my skin, but I've really been "priced out" of doing this since I became a single income household. However, anytime I can find a natural solution that is cheap or I already buy (like olive oil), I'll use it.

Nice to meet you Henrietta! I buy as much organics as possible. I aim for 100% but sometimes it's just not available, especially meat, so I buy the best I can find. I also buy natural/organic health and beauty items. I buy very few things without coupons. Coupons is the only way I can afford to eat organically. I use coupons for everything! I usually save about 50% off my bill. (Sometimes more!)

If you ever find yourself wanting to hop aboard an organic train, please look me up in the train section. (Sandy's Organic/Natural Train) We have just a handful of riders so far, but it's a great help to the budget!

Hope to see you around the natural/organic forums!

I am a city girl living in the country for the past 10 yrs. I have chickens & get my eggs from them. They don't lay eggs in the winter for some reason, but right now, they are laying like crazy. I don't feed them the laying pellets. I let them outside during the day & at night, they go into their house & I lock it up.

My husband plants potatoes with me (we plant alot of them) & by the house I plant onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, kidney beans, squash, bell peppers, & stuff like that. I use not fertilizer on them, just the cow poop dirt mixed in before planting.

I put all my carrot skins & potato skins in the flower garden & one year, I had carrots growing like crazy & 2 potato plants all with the flowers.

We have cows, but we don't eat them or the chickens.

Default I Try To Live As Organicly As Possible

It is so hard sometimes to stay Organic because of the area I live in. But I try.

In the summer, I grow my own organic vegetables.

Container gardening this year, probably tomatoes, bush beans, lettuces, peppers, & a variety of herbs.

I try to buy a variety of natural/organics, but it's kinda hard since the only store around here with naturals/organics is Kroger.

I'm seriously thinking of starting a garden (have never grown anything before) soon!

But meanwhile: I do have a good friend who has her own chickens, so I get eggs from her or Cage-Free, organic eggs otherwise.

I do make my own pet shampoo (for recipe, PM me for it).

I also use natural products for many things: Baking soda for a great face scrub, teeth whitener and scrubber, peroxide as mouthwash and homemade toothpaste ingredient.

I am also a green woman and use Diva Cup, Moon Cup, and Glad Rags (and make my own as well).

Use Raw Honey, also use Olive Oil, Coconut Oil for many purposes, Lemon Juice, etc.

Glad to meet some others of like-mind here!
