The lavender oil I bought came from the lavender farm I go to every July and it's made there. It's very strong oil - Liberty Natural Products. The brand I bought at Natural Grocers is Now essential oils and are 100% pure oil. I'll have to try other brands of essential oils.

I LOVE essential oils! I use my essential oils in a diffuser with distilled water and it leaves my room feeling and smelling great! It has also helped my friends with sicknesses as well!

There is a line of shampoos, lotions and liquid soaps called EO (Essential Oils) that offer a wide variety of combinations. Their lemon verbena skin lotion is really nice with a light citrus scent. I like their shampoos and hand soaps also. They're mostly sold in specialty shops, health food stores, coops, etc.

Sadly, I've never seen coupons for this brand, but they occasionally show up at the Grocery Outlet on the West Coast at considerably reduced prices. Once in a while I also see them at Marshall's.

I have tea tree oil and peppermint. I am going out in the woods next weekend. I am making a peppermint based bug spray -- instead of DEET. Peppermint is also great for congestion and gas.

I was intrigued by the prospect of mint, also, as I love the fragrance and it's refreshing on the skin, but apparently, it's not very effective. The Centers for Disease Control suggest lemon eucalyptus oil as an alternative to DEET -- apparently it works. You shouldn't use it on children under 3, though.

I use 100% pure sunflower oil to moisturize my skin. I use it after bath. I also use 100% pure citronella oil (which can be grown in our country) as a substitute to commercial bug repellants and spray to pests and insects.

Coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer too AND it has so many other benefits that when its absorbed by your skin you're getting lot of goodness.

Here's a great bug repellent:

mix:
1 cup of witch hazel,
10 drops Lemon essential oil
15 drops Terrashield essential oil blend
put in a spray bottle
Not only does it smell awesome,
It works great!

YOU ARE CORRECT!
Please NEVER use DEET on children or pets.
For that matter, just don't use it on yourself either!
