Scenerio #1
4 coupons available. No limitations on how many coupons you use provided you are following the rules.

2 bags of lettuce = $2

# 55/1 Any Bag Dole Lettuce
# .55/1 Dole Lettuce
# $1/2 Dole Lettuce
# .75/2 Dole Lettuce

Option #1
if you use $1/2 you may use no other coupons as you are only purchasing 2 items.
Cost $2 - $1/2 coupon = $1 out of pocket

Option #2
if you use $.75/2 you may use no other coupons as you are only purchasing 2 items.
Cost $2 - $.75/2 coupon = $1.25 out of pocket

Option #3
if you use $.55/1 you may still use 1 other coupon as your coupon only applies to 1 product. You have another .55/1 coupon available in your choice. So you use the 2nd .55/1 coupon.
Cost $2 - $.55/1 coupon = $1.45 - 2nd .55/1 = .90 out of pocket.

Option #3 is the best deal

Scenerio #2.

This one is not that tricky. The store will double all coupons, but only 2 of EXACTLY the same coupons. So you need to mix and match a little bit here.

So in this coupon lot you had 3 .60/1 coupon available. It will only double 2 of them to $1.20, while the other one will only be worth .60.

So what coupon has the most value with the least amount of purchase?

$1/1 - this coupon is worth $2

What has the next highest value with the least amount of purchase?
.60/1 - this coupon is worth $1.20

Remember you have another .60 coupon available
.60/1 - this 2nd coupon is also worth $1.20

Question: Why don't I use the $1/2? $1 double is worth way more than .60. Although it will give you $2 off your order it counts towards 2 items. The most you will get is $2.
If you use 2 of the .60/1 you will get $2.40

Now you have one more coupon you can use
The most you can get of what you left is using the
.50/1 - This coupon is worth $1

Original Cost = $10
- $ 2
- $ 1.20
- $ 1.20
- $ 1
= $4.60 out of pocket.

Does this clarify?

When our Kroger doubles to $1, that means all coupons 50c OR UNDER double and everything from 51c to $1 become $1. For a $1 coupon to become worth $2, it would have to be the rare SUPER DOUBLE COUPONS, or the even rarer TRIPLE COUPONS.
So, I got a different answer for scenario #2.

I love this class. Thank you so much! I teach coupon classes and i never thought of teaching it this way. I am printing this one off and teaching it to my girls. Basic Math Skills are so important while doing couponing. I go to giant Eagles and they do the 4/10.00 or 3/11.98 all of the time so you have to figure out how much one is and then do the coupon and then figure out if it is worth it or not.
