I have seasonal Asthma and usually suffer around cats so I don't visit friends that have cats anymore and Dh thinks I'm rude for not being more social with some friends. He's not the one that can hardly breath when we leave. I use Albuterol and it has always helped. Not sure why a few day's ago I got an asthma attake and I've been having trouble for the last 3 day's now feeling like I can't get get enough air in my lungs. Uggh! is my Albuterol not working for me anymore? time to call the doctor and let him know I'm suffering. I wished I knew what's causing my asthma now.

Maybe you need to be on a maintenance medication. My youngest DS has occasional asthma symptoms, and is also highly allergic to cats. He is on a dialy medication and only uses his inhaler on a need be basis. as far as your DH thinking you are being rude, I cant help you there, but I refuse to take my son to anyones house that has cats...period! hth's

I have asthma. My triggers are going from hot to cold, being sick and just cold weather. I don't have any asthma problems caused from allergies unless I'm just sick. I take Advair (disk) which is a maintenance but I only take it when my asthma starts showing up. I also take Maxair as my rescue inhaler (only when my chest is tight and I feel an attack coming on or in the middle of an attack) and Albuterol in a nebulizer. I save the Albuterol for last. I hate using a nebulizer and I don't have it in the inhaler form. If my first two don't work, I go to the nebulizer.
I would definitely talk to your dr and let him know the Albuterol isn't working. I've been on so many meds for asthma over the years, some work, some don't and some only work for a time. I don't know why. The three I've mentioned above work the best for me. If worse comes to worse and they don't work, the dr. puts me on prednisone. |

You do need daily meds. I take a Steriod Inhailer (Q-Aire or Advair is good) every day plus Singulair everyday as well. Unless I get into something I'm not supposed to or the weather changes drastically, I am fine.

Singulair is what my DS takes. Its a great med because it is for allergies and asthma, covers you on the asthma and cats. It has no drug interactions also and virtually no side effects.

It looks like I'll be going to the dr. tomorrow. I've been fighting asthma for two weeks now and not getting much relief from my meds. I am so tired of coughing and combine that with morning sickness, it's just made both that much worse. Also, right now it is really cold and as soon as I leave the room with the heat or breath in the outside air, I start coughing. Ahh... I just went to the dr. 3 weeks ago.

Well... I went to the dr. this afternoon and he gave me 2 samples of the Spiriva HandiHaler and 1 Proventil (Albuterol) and a prescription for Ventolin (Albuterol). He didn't want to give me any of the reg. maintenance drugs because I'm pregnant and they contain steroids. We'll see if this works... usually if I'm still fighting it this long, I have to go on Prednisone.
