Questionmark Do you stretch?

I started looking for clips online for stretching and decided to go with the seniors videos on YouTube. I have never been one to stretch or strengthen. So this old guy, a good 20/25 years older than me took me through some seated stretching and moving. I think my real body age is 70! I haven't been taking care of myself at all thinking i was ok with some aches and pains. NOW i think i am a mess and at least 20 body years older than i should be.

Have you tried / done the same thing? Do you think about what you can and can't do?
it appears my left side is pretty much shot. I compensate using the right side more.

what would you do if you found out the body age doesn't match your actual age?

i am a little afraid of hurting myself but think I should try to do videos most days. I can't get over how old and grey this man was compared to me.

What do you think? Should I try this alone or go to the doctor for physical therapy. Its cheaper to try it in my living room. But i just don't know

I am trying to exercise a bit more. I am not overweight, but I am definitely out of shape. As far as looks, I had my 30th high school class reunion several years ago. Several of the people, especially the men, looked 20 years older than me. Some people gray prematurely and have been out in the sun too much.

Good for you. I am glad you are looking good!
Its the same for me. I am a good weight, good shape i don't have any complaints there either......i just can't move well. I look a little less than my age appearance wise but movement wise i think im seized up and getting by with aches and pains and OTC painkillers.
A close family member recently had another mild stroke. His movement has been impaired which is why I was looking for exercise / movement help. I had no clue i am also in a bad way wih my left side. The shoulder and hip are not doing well.

First try to get off sugar, (sugar makes my body ache) then try a tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar with 8 oz of water every morning. When you first get out of bed do some light stretching. I bought one of those stretch bands (7. at Walmart) I got rid of the "bat wings"- I hate them. I also use a kettle bell and love it. Now, I'm bench pressing but my son (who spots me) likes to yell at me & say I'm not lifting enough. Teenagers...they're so helpful. It's the whole "use it or lose it" syndrome.

I agree with dropping the sugar. Watch a few videos or read articles on the effects of sugar and your life is changed forever!

Congrats on your steps towards better health.

Oh but I do love sugar. But i am more mindful of cutting down on it. Thanks for the tip.

Everyday since I posted i have done the stretching and added an 8 minute tai chi video to my small program.
I still ache and have pain at night but do feel different in the leg muscles especially.

One week in and today will exercise my hands by clipping some coupons. Anyone want to join me?

Yes I stretch every day. I have arthritis and 2 new hips. Sitting for long periods is my worst enemy.
