I tend to overspend a lot. But I hear Blitzen is real tightwad!!
Like snowflakes, my Christmas memories gather and dance - each beautiful, unique and too soon gone. ~ Deborah Whipp |

I've decided that there's not going to be one frugal day for me in the month of December. Every time I think I am done with shopping, something else pops up. As of today, I think, emphasis on think, I am done. Everything else is pretty much taken care of at this point. I've seriously got to get to cleaning. I wasn't able to on my 5 day break as I was sick. So my son and I are going to take it a room at a time this week and hopefully make a huge dent in it.
Used my new dutch oven for the first time yesterday. That thing is HEAVY!!! You could build some biceps if you used it very often!! It did, however, bake my baked stew beautifully. Couldn't have asked for a better job. Will be pulling things from my stockpile to make baskets for two moms in bad situations. Hoping they will be well received at Christmas. Have a good evening! |

Baked 5 pizzas and put them in the freezer. Eating the last of the leftover ham for supper. DH and I made several gallons of turkey noodle soup and several gallons of potato soup for the freezer.
Putting extra blankets on the bed cause it is going to get cold here next day or two. Starting a freezer bag with leftover meats and veggies for Stir Fried Rice in near future. Learn to appreciate what you have before time makes you appreciate what you had.

Is it cast iron or enamel-coated cast iron? I have a 7 qt bright green cast iron dutch oven that I just LOVE. And yes, it will build up your arms! :D

I cut all the boys hair today. That was a BIG savings. I cut their hair and dh's. The boys have never been to a barber shop. Dh has gone a few times since we married but it's usually for style I can't do. He FINALLY decided within the last couple of years that he would just go with what I could do to save the money. YAY!
I cut up the remaining pumpkin and have it in the oven baking. Will puree and freeze it. The other one went bad on me. I still have the 7 butternut squash to work with. Made bbq meatballs and those are in the crockpot for supper. Will make mac and cheese to go with those. Pulled out the remaining store bought canned items from the cabinet and was able to put in 3 dozen more home canned items in their spot. laundry, laundry, and more laundry today

I cut everyone's hair except one daughter. Her hair is too thick for me to do well. I cut hubby's hair and my oldest daughter cuts the boys' hair. For myself, I just have it cut short enough to last me several months. ![]() |

Ya'll are way more ambitious than I am in the hair cutting department. About a year ago, my husband came to me with hair clippers and said "I want you to cut my hair." We went back and forth because I absolutely, positively did not want to cut his hair. He insisted I could do anything to it as he had a guard on the clippers.....just follow the contours of his head and I should be just fine. Well I did okay for the first couple of passes and then the guard slipped. I cut a big old bald spot in the middle of the back of his head. Now the greater problem with all this is that my husband is the Lieutenant in the Police Department in the Training Division and he had to teach classes all day, the following day. I shaved the big hole in his head on a Sunday afternoon.....there was no one that we could call to "fix" his head. He had to teach his first class with a gaping bald gap in the back of his head. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I was literally in the floor laughing. He found no humor in it.......needless to say he has never asked me to cut his hair again
![]() Gingerly, my dutch oven is cast iron. I bought it at Aldi's last week. It's red and it makes me happy.....even if it tests my biceps. |

Well took ds to the dr today and was told he just has a stomach bug that's going around. Gave us a rx for zofran and permission for me to take him to the grocery store for the things I needed to get. So from there we went to albertson's and boy did I do good! Even with no q's (I know shame on me but the sales were good enough). I got 15 liters of water, 5 cans of tuna, 8 20oz sobe lifewaters, 2 cake mixes, 2 pedialytes, and 9 sirloin steaks for $42.13!! That was solely on store sales! I was hesitant to buy the steaks at first even though they were buy 1 get 2 free because the individual packs were no cheaper than $18 a pack but when I though about the fact that I could get 9 sirloins for $20 I jumped on it. Ds is in bed and I'm watching desperate housewives on Netflix. This is a good night.

Made a super yummy dinner with acorn squash and cabbage from the Farmer's Market. Cut the squash in halves and added butter/brown sugar. Baked upside down on cookie sheet. Sauteed some onions, celery in a pan on the stove and added cabbage. As I was cooking I remembered 2 leftover baked potatoes from last week, so I added them to the cabbage. When dinner was almost cooked my DH asked is I had any sausage to cook up real fast. Remembered some turkey sausage from a deal earlier this fall, so I added that as well!! Super good dinner tonight!! Yum, yum...
