I had a baby backpack that I used like crazy, but if I were driving probably wouldn't have used it much at all. Great for trips like the farmers market, hiking, walkable trips to the store. Again, an all or nothing item. I'd also let the people being invited to the shower know if you're okay with slightly used items or not. Not a car seat, but many other items not used long would be okay if okay with you. Also, it's never too soon to start the baby's savings/college account. Grandparents can be reminded

We loved our pack n play. It was our son's bed for the first little while because we lived with my grandparents and didn't have room for a bed. It was also useful when I needed to do things outside when he was awake. I also loved our travel system (stroller and car seat that match and fit together). It was awesome for when we went to the mall or something. At first I wanted a diaper genie but then realized how expensive the bags were. It was cheaper to buy diaper sacks for the particularly stinky diapers. And they were also amazing for when ds had blowouts and it got on his clothes. I also bought a car bottle warmer and I swear I couldn't have gotten along without it because of all the traveling we did.
If I think of more I'll let you know!! Wife to Chad Mom to Luke

Diapers, wipes, Dreft Laundry soap (have to use it at least for a while, and it's more expensive than gold!) bath supplies.
a bottle stand (for letting the bottles airdry after washing, a bottle scruber. Forget the diaper genie type things, just stock up on grocery store bags and put them in an old kleenex box next to where you change diapers. grab one, put diaper in, and throw in your regular trash. register for a sturdy stroller and an umbrella stroller, you'll need both. I got a ton of onesies but no sleepers. Register for the kind that have an open bottom (just a ring of elastic). They're perfect for late night diaper changing. Look for toys that will hang, and also the rings that connect (can't remember the name right now) --they're awesome. Nice diaper bag, multiple sheet sets, not too many baby blankets, you'll get a ton. Bottles of course, pacifiers/nuks in various age groups, bowls, baby spoons, sippy cups, and toddler plates. You'll be ready when your kid switches eating habits......and they do grow up so quickly! Oh, best thing ever was that at my shower I asked for new/gently used childrens books instead of cards. It was about the same price, but my DD loves to be read to, so the books get a lot more use than a card I would read once! |
