I have seen many posts, when users want to know list of newspapers that carry all coupon inserts such as P&G, Redplum or Smartsource near them.

Last year, I moved to MA from VA, and one of thing before moving I did was to check about newspapers that carry all coupon inserts in MA.

Now its very easy to find newspapers that carry P&G or Redplum Inserts.

The OP's links are useful if you live in or near a big city, but I need to clarify a few points for those who live in rural areas, or in or near a small city.

I live in a very rural area. The nearest city to me is Wichita Falls, TX. Population about 100,000

I put my zipcode in the sites listed in the OP, and got just what I expected from both of them:

The problem with these small town papers is, most of them do not get the complete inserts.

If you can't find a local source of a big city newspaper that carries the inserts, you are sunk.

There are actually 2 big city newspapers that I can pick up locally on Sundays.

I can get the Oklahoman. This is the paper published in Oklahoma City, OK, (population 1.2 million). Unfortunately they DO NOT add the Sunday inserts to papers distributed outside of OKC and it's suburbs. So that does me no good.

I can get The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, published in Ft. Worth, Tx, (population only about 700k, BUT it's part of the DFW metroplex which has a total population of 6.5 million). Fortunately, the Star-Telegram DOES add the inserts to the Sunday papers distributed outside of DFW.

Here is a comparison of the 05/16/10 inserts, excluding restaurant coupons, which vary by region anyhow.

Ft. Worth Star-Telegram__________RP 72 coupons_________ SS 91 coupons + 1 rebate
Wichita Falls Times Record News___RP 16 coupons_________ SS 23 coupons

Very often, the WF paper has even less than that, sometimes a dozen between both inserts even when the full inserts have 100-150 coupons.

And it gets even worse. WFTRN NEVER has the special inserts, like the General Mills and other special inserts, while FWST almost always has them. About the only time FWST doesn't have special inserts is when they are VERY regional- like the recent Hasbro toy insert, and the special Target coupon insert.

So anyhow, my point to all this is that for those living in less populated areas, you are probably going to have to do some localized searching to see if you can find a Sunday paper in your area that has the full inserts, and there's a good chance you won't find one anyhow. In which case you'll have no choice but to get your coupons from the clipping services, or other online sources.

This discrepancy in inserts was all too obvious when I lived in KS. The Wichita Eagle was often lacking some of the higher value coupons, as well as the Target Q's. My answer was to buy the Kansas City Star, and to supplement with the Eagle. I eventually starting going to the recycle center and DDing to get what I wanted from the Wichita paper, but still bought the KC Star.

Here in Phoenix, it's a little different. It's a large market, so we get all the major coupons, and lots of people recycle. If you know when and where to DD, you can score a TON of good inserts, often still bundled. There are also smaller neghborhood "freebie" papers (East Valley Tribune, et al) that do have SS and Parade, but sometimes it's the smaller SS, and sometimes it's the full version.

Great info, I will be looking into this as I have been having an issue- I am sort of "new" to couponing this is my third month... lol
Everytime I go to the store on Sunday I check to make sure the fliers are there... usually the Red plum or P&G are are but NEVER the smartsource. I asked the clerks they are useless. I tried calling the paper but got sent to a voice mail that was NEVER returned. I even tried calling the 800 number in tiny tiny print on the smartsource outside bind again left a message and got no response... I'm feeling put out because... well I send my husband out every monday to dive in the neighbors recycle bins, and they ALL have smartsource so I get them anyway however it ticks me off that they are not in the grocery store newspaper or the convienence store paper, OR the machines on the side of the road- now I used to own a flowershop so I did advertising and I know that the companies can restrict their fliers to home delivery people but my newspaper will not let me get a sunday only subscription and well frankly i dont read the paper i just want the coupons! lol what do I do? Does USA today have coupon inserts? will they deliver sunday only and can I get papers from other areas delivered? Im asking you all for advice if you got any good advice please give it to me!!! thanks!
