Stop and Shop: One more BIG Announcement!

This only affects those of you who are in an Instant Savings area like I am - If you Earn Gas Points on your back page promos than you are already in this bus - But guess what - We are hopping in with you!! :woot:

GAS POINTS ARE COMING TO US!

Tonight while in store I had 2 mgrs walk down an aisle I was in, and I was so over the moon ecstatic about the signage and cat deals everywhere that I just had to let them know. I raved to them for a bit about how the sales have been so HOT lately etc and One of them said, "Well, let me make things even better for you. Do you like Gas Prices right now?" I of course said NO! and he said "Well then get to shopping because Gas Points are starting here soon!" They have teamed up with Shell and will be rolling out the program within the next few weeks/months! He couldn't get very detailed, but I completely understood and asked if I could share and he said please do! They had seen me taking pics with my phone - One of them even straightened out the signage and thanked me for my Free Advertisement :hysterical:

So, if you are in an instant savings area - How do you feel about this? I for one will slightly miss my Instant Savings - but I will love it when it comes time to fill my SUV

In my area there is fuel perks. With the grocery shopping i did in the month of march, now in april i can save $0.35 off the gallon up to 20 gallons.

I have the gas points, and like to run it up to 1000 points to get a dollar off a tank, mostly because it feels great to get gas for so much less. I think you will like it!

SnazzyD 04-01-2011 11:18 PM

gas points will be good, but it's just another program for me to figure out/ i already devote too much of my brain power towards couponing!

francys2355 04-01-2011 11:34 PM

That points thing sounds better then what i have over here!

steph32586 04-01-2011 11:40 PM

if you collect 1000 points you only get a $1 off a tank of gas?

Hi,

Below I explain how Giant's gas program works--ask me questions if needed.:couponlove:

Yes, you will get $1/off for 1000 fuel points for gas.:atnight:

Here in N VA and Metro DC/MD, Giant Food is "step sister" to Stop & Shop stores and has the same Shell gas program. For every $1 you spend you receive 1 point, when you spend $100 (BEFORE MQ & Competitor Coupons--remember this please!), you get $.10/off per gallon.

For example, gas is $3.60/per gallon in N VA areas, you have 500 fuel points, you get $.50/off per gallon--making you pay $3.10/per gallon not $3.60/per gallon.

Also, you can have 2 SEPARATE Giant loyalty cards. They don't link cards like HT does unless you request it. I called Giant CS Corporate and this what I was told. DH's card at Giant we use his work address/cell phone number not linked to my card (my card is the household main card). My card is listed with home address/home phone number. So when Giant has the Extra fuel points, etc., I use both cards and rack up points.:queen:

Recently about 2 weeks ago, Giant had Deer Park water for $2 not $3, I believe, and you got an extra 400 points when you bought any 3 items on the back page. I chose the water because it was cheaper. Pre-ordered 72 cases (asked the store grocery manager how many came in a case), figured out how many cases (total) I needed to buy to receive over 2400 extra fuel points. for each card. I had for "cushion points" on each card 500 points; and I took the difference and ordered enough product to give me up to 4800 fuel points (2400 points on each card).

Yes, this sounds complicated but it isn't. Remember that when you are doing "deals" for gas points or extra points to figure your points BEFORE MQ(s) and Competitor Coupons (if your Stop & Shop stores honors the Competitor Coupons).;)

When you scan your Giant/Stop & Shop loyalty card for the sale prices FIRST, your fuel points are reduced. For example, you subtotal is $200 (BEFORE your card is scanned), after all sales have been deducted, your subtotal is $100. Your fuel points credit $ wise would be for $100 NOT $200 or fuel points credit would be $.10/off per gallon instead of $.20/off per gallon.

Also, scan your card last and then you get more fuel points credited on your card. For example, products ring in, MQ(s)/Competitor Coupons if accepted, and FINALLY your card is scanned at the end. Your fuel point total will reflect HIGHER if you scan your card last. You will still get the sale prices too.

If your subtotal was $200 BEFORE all discounts, then MQ(s), etc. deducted subtotal was $150, and lastly your card reduced with store sales to FINAL total of $100, your fuel points would be credited for 150 points ($.15/off per gallon) instead of 100 points ($.10/off per gallon).

Maximum amount of fuel points earned at Giant is 2200 points which equals $2.20/off per gallon. I pre-buy my gas and stagger my shopping trips so that I can kinda roll the points halfway into the next month even thought the points are only valid for 30 days.

Also, sign up for their online program to register your cards, and keep track of your points online and we print out a copy of our store card accounts. I don't always do the extra fuel points; but I do if the deals are cheap to buy.:queen:

I know this sounds kinda convoluted; but it really works. I donated all the water to our local food bank. We also received a tax donation receipt too but that is not we did this though.:)

Roughly my gas for 2 cars with 20 gallon tanks at $3.60/per gallon would have been $600/per month ($3.60 x 20 gallons=$72/per week/per car or $288/per month for 1 car's month of gas costs). So by pre-buying and estimating fuel points/costs, I was able to save about $400 for both cars on gas. I spent OOP with all coupons, etc. about $150.

Hope this explains it.

I tried scanning the card both ways--FIRST and LAST. More fuel points if card is scanned LAST. Yes, you still get the sale prices.
