Default Help coupon inserts???

Hello I am new to couponing and since I have been watching the show extreme couponing I noticed that 1 episode stood out the episode with missy she had thousands of coupon inserts and she had people help her but also I noticed that a lot of the people on this show go dumpster diving (recycle diving). I live in Saint Petersburg Florida and I wanted to know if anyone knows where I can get extra inserts. I'm fine with recycle diving but I can't find where any recycle bins are that don't have locks on them at night I prefer to not be seen during the day going through a recycle bin for coupons but anything to sac some money...😄😄😄😄😄😄

Welcome!

The best way to get started is to try the coupon classes here on WUC.

On the green bar up top of the page, click on Coupon Resources, and there is a link for a video on how to use WUC, and a link to click for Virtual Coupon Classes. Those would be good places to start.

Second, go to the forum's for the stores you will be shopping at. There will be sale/coupon match-ups for you to go by, and if you have any questions about wether a deal you found will work at that store, the people who shop there regularly can give you the best answers...

"Have you seen that show on the coupon people? Dave saw it and said those people are nuts, I said, you know your cousin is one of those crazy coupon people!"

There are many sites that you can use including several Tampa Bay local ones. I get 3 copies of the Trib and 1 copy of the Times. Usually they have the same coupons but sometimes they are different. I get another copy of the Times coupons from my neighbor as well.
It is important to remember in FL we are a true bogo so try to get even # of coupon sets. The number of papers or inserts you will want is based usually on your family size. Publix in FL does not double coupons and we do not get the penny item. There are still plenty of good deals at Publix and once you feel comfortable with Qs I would suggest CVS and Walgreens as well. WUC is a great starting place!
Good luck!

I haven't done this yet, but I have read where people go to different hotels and coffee shops and ask the managers if they can have the coupon inserts. Also, you can check with your local convenient stores and ask if you can have the inserts from the newspapers that didn't sale before the newspaper person picks them up (I haven't done this either, but my sister said that at her school, the lady who brings the newspapers will bring them all of the inserts from the papers that weren't sold)

As far as how I organize my coupons, I tried the whole cutting each one out and putting them in baseball card holders in an alphabetical list. This made my binder a whole lot smaller, but I found it to be too tedious to keep up and time wasted for the coupons I didn't even use. What I do now is I have 3 binders. I binder for smart source, one for red plum, and one for miscellaneous coupons. Then what I have done is used sheet protectors and separate my inserts and put them in the different sheet protectors. I then do tabs to separate each weeks' worth of inserts. While I can't take all 3 binders in the store (well I can, but really don't want people staring because I have 3 3inch binders in my cart ), I can easily find where certain coupons are by using the data base to tell me the source and the date. By separating each insert, I can then see what are in the insert and if there is something that I use often or really like (e.g. free item), then I put a tab there or I will pull it out and keep it in my "going to find the deals" baggie so I have it with me. Then when I write out my list, I put down where each coupon goes so that I know where to put it back if I m unable to get the deal that day.

I do something a little different for CVS so I can keep track of my ECBs and their store coupons, but this is what I do for all other stores.

It really does depend on what works best for you.

Oh and CVS and RiteAid are AWESOME for personal items. I am not savvy enough for Walgreens hehe

I go a couple times a week to my local recycle centers during the day, with my kids.
I was really nervous at first. I asked the recycle center employees if it was o.k to look for coupon inserts in the large wooden bins. Got permission, they are very helpful and even let me know if a newspaper distributer has just dropped off sunday newspaper bundles!
I have not bought a newspaper in over a year. I usually score about 40 inserts in a single 20 min. trip.
These are large recycle centers run by the city they are open for drop off at any time but only have workers during regular business hours during the week. You probably have something similar near you. Google "recycle centers" near you and then do a drive-by. hope this helps!
