I went to Safeway this morning with the intent to use another 30% off frozen food coupon. Yesterday I got frozen fries and garlic bread. The coupon states that it excludes bakery, meat, and seafood products.

So today I went to get two boxes of frozen little sliders. They were on sale for $9.99 and I had $1 off coupons. I hand the cashier the coupon and she said I couldn't use it because it excluded meat. I was in a hurry and had a cranky baby with me so I just paid and left. While I was in the car I was thinking to myself, then according to her it will exclude burritos and taquitos with meat, hot pockets, breakfast sandwiches, etc.

The way I understand the coupon, it excludes like frozen chicken breasts, turkey brugers, and things like that.

Am I correct or is she correct? I was able to use the coupon on frozen garlic bread, and it states it excludes bakery items (I thought it meant frozen pies in the bakery section).

I think she is wrong. When they say things like that I tell them to scan it and see what the computer does.

It worked on the Viola which has meat in it.

Call the store and see what the customer service desk says.

They way I understood it... But you should definitely call and ask, is that the exclusion is for the minimum purchase you are required to make to allow you to use the coupon. Mine was $15, some areas are only $10.

Mine was $10 minimum, but I had $50 worth of stuff. She wouldn't even try to scan the coupon. She just flat out said no. So I will be going back today when I pick my son up from school. That is $6 extra I had to pay!

I thought it meant u couldn't buy meat from the meat dept, bakery, etc to get to the minimum amount enabling u to use the coupon.

Well, I went back. They tried to give me every excuse as to why it wouldn't work. I kept proving them wrong lol. In the end the manager gave me the $6. Persistence pays off. I was very polite about it, and so were they. They still don't know why it wouldn't work. So watch your receipts if you use the coupon.

Thanks for the heads up. I still haven't used the 30% off frozen foods coupon. I had trouble with the 4-day ad coupons and none of those scanned at all and had to be keyed in. The $1/1 Open Nature coupon never scans no matter what kind of Open Nature product I buy so I always have to ask the cashier why that coupon didn't scan when they scan it. They always have to check to make sure I did purchase an Open Nature product. I got the sandwich bread yesterday.

Bizzarre - it's programmed into their system - she should have at least scanned it.
