Lately i have seen so many toys go clearance I was thinking of buying a few and sending them to her anyway either to store for next year or maybe take to some kids that still did not receive anything despite our best efforts.

I think that would be wonderful. Also, you know if they didn't have money for Christmas they most likely don't have money for Birthday so she could even give them to a child that has a Birthday. Just another thought.

Nice of you to think of them after Christmas. I think they would love toys anytime of year. Rgyman is right, birthdays always come up and in the pictures there were quite a few teenagers at the party.
I'm looking out for soaps and shampoo's for a box I will send probably in February. I don't have much right now, bit I'm doing it bit by bit. Happy new year everyone let's hope its a good one.

Is anyone working on a new year box? Just wondering what if anything you are putting in there?
I think I will try and do a food/soap box depending on the coupons I can get to match up to sales. I do have a couple of new jump ropes that I got from K Mart before Christmas and some pencils too that didn't go last time. I did send a water Bottle and it was snapped up so maybe there is a demand for those plastic water bottles. I also have some of those fragrance candles that I am allergic to, so they can go too. If anyone has any idea's please post them. Its been quiet around here because of the holidays and I have been battling the Flu..UGG!

Hope you feel better soon. I sad to say I not working on a box right now. No funds right after Christmas and I have tons of things to get done to put our house on the market in Feb. so I am crazy busy right now too but I do want to get another box out to them so as soon as things come down again I will try to figure how to get the funds to ship another box.

I found some nice napkins for 49c and some on sale candy that I bought for the box. This was from today's K Mart trip. Not much but it all adds up.
I have some free shampoo from Nov in the cupboard and as I am kinda swimming in shampoo right now, I will put aside a couple of those bottles. I am trying to have a clear out of clutter and some of the things I have are nice but I just don't have use for them, so I will add those to the box too. Things are always tight after the holidays so I know what you mean rgyman. I hope you house is ready soon for the sale.

Bumping this thread up for any newbies to read to see what we have managed to do so far since September.
We have sent over 30 packages to Montrose and they have been gratefully accepted and given out to very needy folks. We also helped out this community with some boxes of toys and gifts for teenagers that were given out at a Christmas party. As January is here I am hoping some WUCies are having a clear out of things from the home. A lot of things we take for granted these seniors do not have and would love to receive. Any stockpile foods that you might not eat, health and beauty products and house hold items like trash bags or can openers, batteries and things from the kitchen draw that don't get used. Thanks for reading and the address is in the first post for sending anything you may have. Drink mixes and light weight foods like noodle meals are cheap to mail if you use parcel post. And the closer you are to AK the less the postage costs too. Have a great night everyone. Let us all know what you may be sending any idea's are welcome. Its very quiet this time of year and right now they have nothing to give as extra's.

Well so far I have in my box
2 large bottles of Jergens 9 bars of ivory soap, 2 olay soap 2 jump ropes Hand warmers Hand sanitizer Dried fruit bags Those Plack things from the dental isle, Couple of lipsticks Boire pore strips More odds and ends I am adding. The lotion is heavy so I might have to go with a flat rate box I'm not sure yet. I need to get these things out of here soon. I know this time of year they need soap and lotion so I'm sure this will help out some. Have a great day all.
