WELOME to those reading in 2013. The first box of 2013 went out today 1/17/2013
This is a small Food bank in Montrose AR.
The 300 families who use this food bank every month are mainly elderly, on fixed income and below the poverty level.
. They are a huge need for anything right now. They are very low on everything.
I just spoke to Arma who said they will take anything anyone can offer, when folks are poor they have no choices. Which is sad to hear but probably true.
I am asking WUCies do you have any extra of something that you would not miss in your stockpile?
They will take any food donations as well as HBA! I know as WUCies we don't like to spend OOP but they would take a small check I'm sure too.
As the are Seniors I personally sent things

Poligrip,toothpastes
Denture cleaning tablets, toothbrushes
Soaps, shower gels
Food items, hot chocolates, crystal lights
Shampoo, conditioners,
I believe some folks think of shampoo and conditioner as a luxury, while others would love to have one or two extra meals on hand.

Thank you for reading this and a huge thank you to the wonderful WUCkies who have responded in these hard times. Arma is over joyed to be getting boxes of all kinds of things and also the padded envelopes of oatmeal and hot drink mixes. Every little thing really helps, and has made their small town feel loved and cared about from folks from all over the USA. Families moving away for job reasons has left some seniors really in need, and raising grandkids in some cases.
In nearly 3 months since I first posted......28 packages have arrived filled with supplies to keep clean and fresh, and to spread happiness. GREAT job and thank you from Arma and myself.

UPDATED we think as of 11/2/12 box # 22 is on its way.......wanted to keep you all up to date on the wonderful kindness shown by some WUCkies.

Gently used hats and gloves are also welcome as the weather is changing now. New socks, underwear nailclippers and things like that are really in demand, if anyone knows of any great sales and would like to help, please post.

Wanted to put this up front as its Friday.
They will take anything they have no big business donating to them, I mean grocery stores out of dates and they don't get Government food help either.

Some denture tabs in an envie.....splenda in an envie, anything small and cheap to mail is great, or if you have more to send, they will thank you. Crystal light...how can I forget Crystal light.
If you can think of ANYTHING small a cheap to mail please add it in a post below, maybe someone has it.

I am all the way in PA. No where near AR.
That makes it expensive for me to ship something, I would love to have the $11 shipping actually go to food and HBA.

This whole area is extremely poor. Its really heart breaking. When you said there are no big businesses donating its because there are no businesses here at all. Im sure everything you send them is a huge blessing!!! I am going to gather up a box to take.

Arma also told me there is no work there, no business, nothing.
My donation box will arrive Monday or Tuesday and she said ANYthing is a blessing.
Thank you for putting a box together for them. I am thrilled someone has responded in these hard times.

Theresa1122 - Does your Kroger allow overage? This is a long shot, but if this deal would work there you could get some overage to buy stuff for the pantry.

Im not real sure if they will allow that much in overage. Iv got 2 of the q's to try out though. They have allowed small overages of like .25 though.
